Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
We had another great week with your children! A highlight of this week was our assembly with author Christine Soontornvat! We are so lucky to have an LRC Director who pursues opportunities such as this one, and a PTO that is willing to sponsor these visits.
Our students continue to inspire us with their curiosity, creativity and desire to learn. Our teachers are planning meaningful learning activities. Second graders will celebrate Dot Day on September 15th. More information on the specifics for each classroom will be shared by homeroom teachers. Our third-grade students are focusing on growth mindset and goal setting using our new social and emotional learning curriculum. Fourth-grade students are learning about different social scientists in preparation for their study of the regions of the United States. Fifth graders are excited to be doing some of the things they have looked forward to doing, such as being a "buddy" to a second grader and starting band and orchestra lessons during the school day.
We are grateful for our community partners. The Mount Prospect Police Department plans to go to every school in Mount Prospect for a "Fist Bump Friday" where officers will be out to greet the students and families upon arrival. Our date will be September 30th, so please don't be alarmed if you see multiple police cars at Lions Park that day.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
