National Hispanic Heritage Month - Sept. 15-Oct. 15

National Hispanic Heritage Month traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries. During this month and throughout the year, the National Park Service and our partners, share history, heritage, and accomplishments of Hispanic and Latino Americans of past and present.

DeSoto Teen Council is Looking for Members!

The City of DeSoto is currently recruiting for our DeSoto Teen Council.


The Teen Council is comprised of DeSoto teens who are seeking to learn more about municipal operations, enjoy health and mental wellness experiences as well as learn new life skills and career readiness.


Benefits for joining the DeSoto Teen Council include but aren’t limited to:


  • Letter of recommendation from City Administration, to include with college application
  • Scholastic community service hours (subject to approval by the school liaison)
  • A solid understanding of City Government and the services provided
  • Introduction to impeccable skills involving better business etiquette
  • Set the standard for TEEN INVOLVEMENT IN THE COMMUNITY!
  • STEM Programming and Employment Opportunities

Attention Class of 2022!

Per TEA, all graduating seniors must complete a financial aid application to graduate.

FAFSA and TASFA opens October 1!

The FAFSA application is for U.S. citizens and TASFA is for non-U.S. citizens.

Students and their parent/guardian that carried them on the 2020 tax return must create an FSAID to access the 2022-2023 application on October 1. *Do not complete the 2021-2022 application. FSAID creation does not apply to the TASFA application. *

College Day Live: PVAMU Marching Storm and TACRAO Virtual College Fair - September 24

Join us at DeSoto High School to enjoy a live performance from the PVAMU Marching Storm on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 10 a.m. The PVAMU Marching Storm will be performing in observance of the National "Go Get It" Week to support College and Career readiness in DeSoto ISD.


Visit over 300 Colleges and Universities from across the nation to gain insight on offerings at the TACRAO Virtual College Fair.

Dallas County Promise

The Promise Pledge is now LIVE on the website! You can find the official Promise Pledge steps online. The Promise Pledge is the first step of the Dallas County Promise. Please see the additional steps here. The Dallas County Promise is a last-dollar scholarship opportunity. The expectation is that ALL seniors complete ALL steps of the Promise. The Promise is non-binding and serves as a post-secondary OPTION. ECHS students do not need to apply to Dallas College, but instead a partner university.
