OCTOBER 1 REDISTRICTING PROCESS MEETING STRUCTURE


Council Rock School District will hold a Redistricting Proposal Community Feedback Meeting on Monday, October 1 at 7 P.M. in the Council Rock South Auditorium. Those not able to attend in person can access presentation information in real time by watching the CR YouTube channel. October 1 presentation information with audio will be posted to CR YouTube within 24 hours of meeting completion.


The October 1 meeting will begin with representatives from Cropper GIS reviewing the current redistricting proposal. Next, meeting attendees will move to the CR South Cafeteria where they will be able to view large versions of the current proposed redistricting maps and related data tables. As participants review provided documents, they will be able to interact with representatives from Cropper GIS, District officials, and Redistricting Committee members.


At the same time, participants will be invited to provide thoughts and observations on the current proposed plan via an electronic survey. Community members not in attendance can take the survey by clicking on the live link in the Redistricting hub anytime after 7 P.M. on Monday, October 1.


The redistricting proposal electronic survey will remain open for community feedback for one week, and results will be shared with all members of the Redistricting Committee at their next meeting on October 23.

COUNCIL ROCK ALUMNI SURVEY NOW OPEN

Council Rock is asking for alums to take approximately five minutes to complete our recently developed Alumni Survey. This survey will help district officials understand the experiences of Council Rock graduates' readiness to enter a college or career environment upon graduation.

COUNCIL ROCK ELEMENTARY MEDIA FESTIVAL PROMOTIONAL DESIGN CONTEST

The Council Rock Elementary Media Festival is designed to encourage the use of multimedia projects to enhance instruction. The purpose of this contest is to create a design that will be used in all correspondence associated with the Media Festival. The winning design will be highlighted and used at the Media Festival Awards Ceremony in 2019.

CR NORTH FOOTBALL TEAM TO WEAR PINK AND BLUE FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

The Council Rock North Football Team will remember Chancellor Center employee Denise Brown's husband at an upcoming game. Denise's husband passed away from breast cancer, and the team has committed to honoring him and all men currently suffering from the disease by wearing pink socks and blue terrycloth wristbands during their game on Saturday October 6th vs Abington. Come out and see the team in action as they show support for this very important awareness cause.

CR TEACHERS ATTEND TEXT DEPENDENT ANALYSIS TRAINING AT BCIU

Several CR teachers attended the first of a four day workshop at BCIU for Text Dependent Analysis this week. Elementary School Literacy Specialists and Middle School ELA Teachers attending the workshop will share the information they learned on TDA instructional strategies in a train the trainers model for preparing students for PSSA. CR attendees included, from left – Lisa Lohwasser – NES, Tara Gittelman – HES, Nancy Caplin – HMS, Kristin Parke – NMS, Donna Kennedy – RES, and Pat Erickson – ELA Coordinator K-6.

WRIGHTSTOWN ELEMENTARY KICKS OFF SCHOOL DAY WITH MORNING NEWS PROGRAM

Wrightstown Elementary students are very excited to have the opportunity to be part of a new school club - M.A.T. or the Morning Announcement Team. In order to be a part of this team, 5th grade students had to fill out an application form and audition for roles in the anchor or tech team. Student teams rotate daily and share the daily events at Wrightstown. They also have the chance to get those creative juices flowing with special spotlight clips such as quote or trivia of the day- all student researched! Watch out Action News Team...you may have competition!

RICHBORO ELEMENTARY STUDENTS CELEBRATE SUMMER READING GOALS WITH POPSICLE PARTY

Over 100 RES students in grades K-6 participated in a popsicle party for completing the Summer Reading Road Trip by logging their reading mileage over the summer.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH'S STACY McCOWAN AND HER CR GRAD HUSBAND GO TO WYOMING TO "RUN THE LEGEND"

CR South's Ms. Stacy McCowan and her husband Mark traveled to Cheyenne, Wyoming last weekend to “Run the Legend.” Stacy completed the full marathon while Mark ran the half marathon. Mark, a ’91 Council Rock graduate, is visually impaired. He runs all of his races with the help of a sighted guide. His primary guide for this race was Rachel (Brubaker) Water, a 2006 Council Rock South graduate. Both Stacy and Mark have an impressive running goal; they are on a quest to complete the 50 states by running half marathons/full marathons in each. Wyoming is Mark’s 15th state and Stacy's16th. Barring any injuries, they are both hoping to reach their 20th race during the current school year.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH STEM STUDENTS VISIT DREXEL UNIVERSITY

CR North Honors Experimental Research in STEM students had the opportunity to visit the A.J. Drexel Nanotechnology Institute at Drexel University on Tuesday. Drexel University doctoral students and professors discussed their research and toured the students through the cutting edge labs. The students also enjoyed demos and did experiments to explore the properties of various materials. Several North students worked last year in Drexel’s research labs, and this relationship will continue this year.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH'S FIELD HOCKEY TEAM PAYS TRIBUTE TO A VERY SPECIAL MAN

The Council Rock North Field Hockey Team raised $2500 for Goals for J-Pa. Goals for J-Pa was started by CR North field hockey team member, Nikki Jackson. The fundraising concept pays tribute to Nikki's grandfather, John Devlin, who passed away last spring after fighting a battle with pancreatic cancer. The Team J-Pa Scholarship awards money to CR college bound students who have lost a family member to cancer and honors the legacy of a very special man.
