From the Guidance Department
This past week, counselors, administrators and faculty had breakfast with our new students and a large group of our new SHS Ambassador leaders. We have approximately 40 new students starting SHS this year who come to us from private schools, local charter schools, out of state, and out of the country. We are thrilled to add to our SHS community.
September 25th: SENIOR PARENT NIGHT with the Guidance Counselors 6pm-8pm (ish)
The guidance counselors would like to remind all parents/guardians of the upcoming post secondary planning event. The guidance counselors will focus mostly on the nuts and bolts of the application process. Click here for the SENIOR APPLICATION CHECKLIST.
As we discussed with the seniors, we are also in the process of scheduling info sessions with career oriented and technical schools, GAP year organizations, and have just recently scheduled our NSCC On the Spot Admissions event for 11/7/19 at 1130AM-1:30PM. Stay tuned for all updates!
Your friendly guidance counselors will also be at Curriculum Night on 9/26/19.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
PSAT Registration: Grades 10 and 11
Students may now register for the PSAT exam. The PSAT is good practice for students in grades 10 and 11. Student PSAT scores from junior year will automatically be included in the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
The PSAT will be given on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 8:00 am at Swampscott High School.
The fee for the exam is $35.00 and payments are made online through UNIPAY.
To pay online: Go to the SHS district website, under the resources tab, select families, and pay fees online. You will be directed to the Unipay site, select Swampscott and click on Exams High School.
Please be sure to include the student's name, grade and PSAT in the memo. Students can pick up a PSAT Student Guide from Mrs. Brown in the guidance office or click here for the online version. The deadline to register is October 11th; we cannot guarantee a seat for students registering after the deadline as we will need to secure the appropriate number of proctors.
