The New Space
I have aded Stephanie Porier, a massage therapist and a recent transplant from Vermont. She specializes in Reiki, Chakra work, and emotional healing through energy work. I have also added a very talented tattoo artist. He has been working in the Bend area for years and is now starting his own "shop."
I am very excited about this eclectic mix of healers and I wanted to say thank you again. If you have any interest in learning more about my new tenants, let me know!
Promotions and Deals
I also have an ad in The Bend Health Guide. I am doing free Itovi health scans and personalized aromatherapy treatments for free. You will then get a sample of the essential oil i used for your massage to take home and use for self care in between massages. Itovi health scans take about 2 minutes and it uses frequency to determine what essential oil(s) your body needs that day. I find it to be very accurate and helpful! You can combine the two deals together!
You can find the Bend Health Guide in Bend shops, restaurants, and stores. This issue is all about healthy, local eating!
Self Care
I know it sounds a little bit obvious that a massage therapist is talking about self care. However, I need to heed my own advice! I had a massage yesterday for the first time in about a year. Yikes! I am always telling people to take care of themselves, come in once a month, we all have an hour to take care of our bodies and minds, etc. I do other forms of self care, but I had actually forgotten how important a regular massage was.
We make excuses all the time for not taking care of ourselves; It costs too much, I don't have time, I'm fine, what would I do with my child? The list can go on and on. As much as I encourage you to come and get a massage, I know some of you, me included, find it hard to do. Let's dispel some of these myths about self care, massage in particular.
It costs too much: Not taking the time for self care can lead to injury, burn out, anxiety, stress, depression, physical illnesses, etc. How much does a doctors visit cost? Prescription pills? Time off work? A massage costs about $60-$80 for an hour. That is once a month, preventative care we are talking about. I offer packages as well to help their clients save money. We are givers, so some of us even have sliding scale ranges for people out of work or on a fixed income. Ask me about my sliding scale prices.
I don't have the time: I think this is my favorite. I have three businesses and a child, so I am always strapped for time. However, I know that I have 1 hour a month. If you are reading this, you have time ;). I always say that we make time for things that are important to us. I also always suggest to my clients to schedule their next appointment before they leave. If you don't have it in your books, it will never get there!
I'm Fine: Are we? I find myself fighting with my 3 year old son over putting clothes on or about watching a video. Why? I am an adult, he's 3. Ugh. I need some me time. Relax, let someone else pamper you for an hour, get muscles relaxed, leave the house. Massage not only helps with physical aches and pains, but it can also help with sleep, emotional releases, and stress reduction.
As you can see, there really isn't any good excuse not to take care of yourself. The better versions of ourselves we can be, the better we can be for our families and communities. Save up that money, find a massage therapist that offers packages, keep a massage scheduled once a month, and I promise you, you will be a better person for it. Reminds me, I need to schedule my next massage ;)
