Nellie Bly was born November 1867 and died in 1922.She travelled around the world in 72 days breaking a record.Nellie suggested to Joseph Pulitizer to finance an attempt to break he record in the book ''AROUND THE WORLD IN DAYS'' He liked the idea and opened a contest in which he offered a trip to Europe to the person who guessed the time it would take for Bly to complete the trip. More than 1,000,000 people entered the contest, and when she returned to NY on January 25, 1890, she was met by a huge crowd to see her break the record in 72 days, six hours, 11 minutes, and 14 seconds. She was also a journilist. She wanted to be a journalist in this event because usually werent able to participate in these type of activities. The major contribution was that she is the first women to go around the world or be a succesful journalist. it affected women by inspiring them and showing them nothing is impossible. If she didnt do this women would not have a role model like Nellie Bly to look up to.
