Summer Elk Trax
2022-2023 National School to Watch
From The Principal:
WOW! The 2022-23 school year is approaching. I am excited for the upcoming school year and all of the fun things scheduled at Elkton Middle School! This will be my fifth year as Principal of Elkton Middle. Time really does fly by and I absolutely love being a part of this school community! We have the best students, families and teachers of all the schools!
For our new parents, each month we send a newsletter for parents with important information and dates to keep you informed. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
This summer newsletter has back to school information and summer details for everyone. Please take time to look through the newsletter and everything we have happening as school starts.
Until then, enjoy summer, have fun, and spend time with your family and friends. I look forward to seeing all of you in August! As your Principal, I am here for you and want you to feel comfortable seeking support from our administration team; myself, Ms. Campbell, or Ms. Muterspaugh. We are here to help each of you and your child be successful in middle school!

ATTENDANCE EMAIL
Student Attendance
We have an attendance email address dedicated to attendance information and notes! Email us at emsattendance@rockingham.k12.va.us to report daily absences. We hope this can help to make things easier on busy families (once you email, you do not need to call or send anything in writing). Doctor offices may also send scanned/electronic notes directly to the school using this email address.

Please Note:
Technology Tidbits
In the past, if you received a HotSpot and have yet to return that along with the charger, please be aware that you may incur a charge at registration unless both are returned to school.
When you register your student and sign the user agreement for their ChromeBook, that will potentially hold you responsible for the cost of repairing intentional damages your student might incur. Please take a moment to speak with them regarding the appropriate use of their device. They should also never share their passwords with their friends in order to keep their accounts safe.
6th graders and students who are new to our school will receive new ChromeBooks when they come for registration.
7th graders will receive new ChromeBooks at registration and will be required to return their old devices and chargers.
Stickers are not allowed to be placed on ChromeBooks; please make certain your student removes all stickers and writing before they come for their new ChromeBook so they don't have to take time to do it at that time.
We look forward to seeing everyone during registration and working with your students in the upcoming school term.
Fantastic FFA
The 96th Annual Virginia State FFA Convention was held June 27th-30th, at Virginia Tech. The Elkton Middle School FFA Chapter earned the Superior Chapter Award, a 100% membership award and a silver award for public relations. James Rothgeb earned a gold rating in both the Food and Fiber and the Agricultural Mechanics contests. Wyatt Holloway competed in the Junior Livestock Judging contest where he was the 5th high individual overall. He also earned 2nd place in the goat/sheep division, 10th place in cattle and 9th place in reasons. Congratulations to these individuals for their accomplishments!
The Elkton Middle School FFA Chapter will be working the FFA Food Booth at the Rockingham County Fair on Saturday, August 20th from 3:30pm-10:30pm. We will need volunteers to help cook and serve. Members that work at least 4 hours will receive a free FFA T-shirt. Contact Mrs. Keyser if you have any questions.
