Maltby Messenger
June 20th Edition
~A message from the Principal~
Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that Friday, June 21st, is the last day of school!!! Where ever did the year go? We are excited to close the books on the 2018-2019 school year, but it is always hard to say goodbye to our 5th graders that will be moving on to middle school. This has been a great group of students to watch grow up at Maltby. We are sad to see them go, but we know they will do amazing things. A special thank you goes out to our 5th grade parents who are now moving onto the middle school. Your support of our many endeavors has not gone unnoticed and is so appreciated.
Our community will say their final goodbye to the 5th graders at our end of the year assembly on Friday, June 21st , beginning at 9:15am. We will also be celebrating and thanking our volunteers at 8:30am in the staff room, prior to the assembly. We would love to have parents join us. In addition to our Marimba band performing, we will also give out awards and culminate with our fabulous slide show.
As we look to the new school year, here are a few dates to remember:
-Report cards mailed home, July 3rd.
-Office closes to the public on June 28th and will reopen for fall on August 21st. (Placements and transportation information will also be available on Skyward).
-Kindergarten Kindness day, put on by Transportation, will be held on August 28th.
-Kindergarten connection meetings will be held September 4th, 5th, and 6th.
- First day of full day Kindergarten will be September 9th.
****School begins for students first through fifth grades-Wednesday, September 4th****
The staff at Maltby wishes your family a restful and safe summer. We look forward to having you back in the fall. We will see you then!
Fondly,
Bonnie McKerney

Physical Education News...
A BIG THANK YOU to all the volunteers that came out and helped make Field Day a success! After a damp start, the weather cooperated for us this year. Thank you PTO for supplying juice bars to refresh us and the Hutto Family for ribbons for the participants.
In May, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders checked out their health related fitness levels as they performed the Fitnessgram Fitness Test. Most students are not only maintaining their fitness level from this fall but have also improved enough to meet or exceed goals that they set. 5th graders will be receiving a Fitnessgram report with their report cards. Be sure to ask your child about their aerobic endurance, muscular endurance, strength, and flexibility. Way to go Maltby!
Have a fun, safe summer filled with lots of activity!
Thank you for your support, Mrs. Svitavsky and Mrs. Force
