Hawks Nest
Hancock Elementary School
March 1-5
Guess What???
Hancock is being renovated!!! We are so excited. This renovation is going to be a BIG one and last about 2 years. Our campus was built in 1973 and they are bringing us up to CFISD standards.
We wanted you to be aware as you will begin seeing a lot of construction equipment and “décor” around the campus. While it will be frustrating at times, it will be beautiful in the end. Our children deserve a beautiful campus and I can’t wait for them to have it.
The first Phase is starting during Spring Break and the portables will be moved during that time frame. They are reorganizing the layout of portables. During Spring Break, please enjoy the playground but remind your children to stay away from the construction crew and equipment so they are safe.
After that we will keep you in the loop of the next steps.
Those of you that like to park in the lot in the mornings and walk your children to the front door, it may be a bit more difficult to find a spot. They are taking approximately 20 spots and the teachers will need to be able to park. Thank you for understanding.
Covid-19 Safety
We have seen a rise in Covid 19 cases at Hancock and we need your help. If your child is sick, please keep them at home and let our School Nurse know. If you have a family member who lives in the household that has tested positive for Covid 19, please keep your child at home and contact our Nurse. CFISD Lead Safely protocols ask for our parents to screen their child every day. We are attaching the protocol below.

Parent Tip
Reading doesn't have to be a chore or a task. There are ways to make reading and writing fun for the whole family! Have you ever listened to an audiobook together? What about writing notes to each other on the mirror?
Check out the article below to find more ways that you can help your child success in school by reading and writing at home!
Attendance Matters
It is very important for your child to attend school each day. Studies show students who have good attendance are more likely to succeed in their academic career.
According to Great Schools.org, it is difficult for the teacher to build a student's skills if the student is frequently absent.
Here are the number of absences by grade level for the week of February 8th through February 12th.
