Mrs. Seeley's Weekly Stats
February 1-5
Reading
Reading comprehension is the ability to read text, process it, and understand its meaning. If word recognition is difficult, students use too much time trying to sound out individual words, therefore, interfering with the ability to comprehend the text. Practice will only make reading fluency and comprehension improve. Please practice reading with your child each night.
Phonics - This week we will focus on the long u sound spelled u, u_e, ue, and ew.
Writing
We will be writing nonfiction pieces about birds this week. We will emphasize good beginnings and endings, as well as adding the most important facts. We will add our writing to our informational posters.
Math
We will continue studying measurement and graphing.
Please continue to use the flash cards sent home in the homework folder to review addition and subtraction facts.
Social Sciences
This week we will wrap up our study of birds by creating a bird poster.
