Math Peer Observation Tool
We are looking forward to using the new observation tool as part of your 1/2 day math professional development. Third grade and fifth grade teachers already began this work in pairs, completing the tool after observing in math classes on Thursday.
At our staff meeting this week, we appreciated your time to consider the content for the various sections of the tool. Gerry Brooks, the comic principal, also has some information to share on differentiation that may give you a few laughs. His version of differentiation is not exactly what we have in mind on the observation tool! The video is embedded below.
In all seriousness, our work with the tool will help us to evaluate our progress with math instruction and specifically small group instruction in math. In addition, we do hope that you see the benefit to your own professional development. Your reflection after a peer observation can inform adjustments and upgrades to your own practice that benefit the students in your room.
Notes and Reminders
- The Kennedy Center is looking for a few schools to participate in their Kids Create Opera program. In this program, classrooms form an opera company in which students write, compose, produce, and perform their own original opera over the course of a full academic year. There are interest meetings coming up to gather more information. We will pass an information sheet along to each team leader. Please discuss this opportunity at your grade level. We would love to get this going at Cedar Grove.
- We will be at the Job Fair on Tuesday evening to interview for a new art teacher and also for a new teacher for a third ASD class for next school year.
Share and Celebrate
- Thank you to all staff who are planning to come out to Bingo tonight at Rocky Hill. Your support of community programs makes a big difference to build great relationships with our parents and students.
