Due TODAY! Learning Intention Form for Our January Reopening - Hybrid or Virtual

We need to know TODAY if your child/children will be joining us in January on a Hybrid schedule or a Virtual schedule. If you have not done so yet, please complete the Learning Intention Form (available in English and in Spanish) on the Secondary Reopening Plan webpage. It is critical that all parents/guardians complete the survey. Please know that if you indicate your student will attend in Hybrid learning, but your family situation changes, you will have the opportunity to switch to the Virtual learning option when needed. However, if you select the Virtual option, you will not be able to shift to Hybrid because of planning and operational processes. If you have additional questions, please send us an email at

FCEF Virtual Gala TONIGHT!

Instead of the annual May Gala, the Falls Church Education Foundation fundraiser is online tonight. The Roaring Twenties Online Auction event is live starting at 7:00 pm through 9:30 pm. The event starts with a video presentation on the auction website where you can also bid on over 160 great items, including camps, vacations, school perks, fitness, portraits, art, health and beauty items, jewelry, food, gift cards, and more! Free, register to bid here.

At the spring 2019 event, more than $100,000 was raised. Please pitch in to help raise these key funds that go to support the FCEF Super Grant program, Advanced Teacher Training Grants, and programs for ESOL, Special Ed, and equity of access for all students.

No Food Pick-Up Next Week

FCCPS Food Services will not be at the schools the day after Thanksgiving (Friday, November 27) so there will be no food pick-up then. Instead, families were provided with two weeks of food in today's pick-up. If you have questions, please contact Food Services Director Richard Kane.

Mask Up the Correct Way!

All of our students have been doing a wonderful job wearing masks and social distancing as we have reopened our schools. Face-coverings/masks protect the wearer and those around them. However, it is important that the face-covering/mask fit appropriately and be made of the appropriate materials. The most effective masks are made of tightly woven fabrics, such as cotton and cotton blends; breathable; and two or three layers. Less effective fabrics for cloth masks are loosely woven fabrics, such as loose-knit fabrics; difficult to breathe through (like plastic or leather); and single layer.

The CDC does NOT recommend using masks with exhalation valves or vents because this type of mask may not prevent you from spreading COVID-19 to others. The hole in the material may allow your respiratory droplets to escape and reach others. Please do not send students to school with masks that have exhalation valves. If your student needs a mask, each school has a supply as needed. Please visit for additional guidance from the CDC on mask-wearing.
