Successful Coders

Garcia Elementary students joined the Hour of Code celebrated worldwide. A good number of students successfully completed the specified activity. Students learned the basics of computer programming in a creative and fun way.


TEKS Technology Applications:

(6) Technology operations and concepts. The student demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of technology systems, concepts, and operations.

Strand 4: Digital Learning: Effectively school libraries are a vital hub with equitable access to emerging technologies, which provide curated and open access to a variety of print and digital resources. They support best instructional practices and curriculum standards through the integration of resources while assessing the impact on student learning.

Reading Wonderland

This activity is a collaboration between the library and the classroom. Students chose a book and decorated their tree according to their book theme.


TEKS ELAR 6. Response skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking using multiple texts. The student is expected to (B) provide an oral, pictorial, or written response to a text;

Library-Math-Technology Connection

Students used the Osmo to solve different challenges and or problems on geometric figures. This activity enriched their skills in Math as well as interpersonal relationship by collaborating well with each other to solve problems.


TEKS (1) Mathematical process standards. The student uses mathematical processes to acquire and demonstrate mathematical understanding. (C) select tools, including real objects, manipulatives, paper and pencil, and technology as appropriate, and techniques, including mental math, estimation, and number sense as appropriate, to solve problems;

Library- ELAR-Technology Connection

Using the OSMO Words students were able to practice spelling and likewise enhance their vocabulary.


TEKS (3) Developing and sustaining foundational language skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking--vocabulary. The student is expected to:(A) use a resource such as a picture dictionary or digital resource to find words

Enchanted Forest Book Fair

A big thank you to our staff, students and parents for patronizing our book fair. We have reached our goal and we will be able to acquire more books for the library.
