MOUNT RUSHMORE
The presidents mountain has nearly three million visitors a year. The construction of Mount Rushmore was very explosive and full of destruction. All of the structural facts and design details are amazing. And theres also a room that was never finished. Listen and learn about this amazing mountain.
The mountain was designed by a Danish-American sculpter Gutzon Borglum and his son, Lincoln Borglum. The construction of this mountain was mostly carved from dynamite. Over 90% of the presidents faces were blown out by explosives. The four presidents in the granite face of the mountain are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.
Most of the details of the mountain are pretty cool. Each of the presidents heads are sixty feet tall. But George Washington's nose is the longest of the presidents at 21 feet. Each of there eyes are 11 feet wide and there mouths are about 18 feet wide.
Now there's the hall of records... Gutzon Borglum started to blast a room that would be a grand hall full of Americas greatest documents. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were supposed to held in this hall. Mount Rushmore cost right under one million dollars to build, but the hall of records was never finished due to lack of funds.
This mountain is full of amazing details. The constructional facts are very complex and exciting. The structural facts took a lot of time to figure out and get just right. This is a wonderful place to visit and stay.
