Teacher Feature - Ms. Julie
WHY I TEACH
I always knew I wanted to do something with young children. I think the main reason I decided to become a teacher was because I had two AMAZING teachers, Mrs. Harp and Mrs. Haft at Wilson School. They were my teachers for 4th and 5th grade. They made teaching fun and they always made me feel good about myself. They pushed me to do my best and set very high expectations for me. Teaching is so rewarding. I love seeing my students learn and grow. I watched my first class graduate from High School this year. It was the most amazing feeling to see how far they had come and to hear them say how much they remembered being in my class.
Let's Keep Everyone Healthy and Our School Open
1. Screen your child for symptoms each morning before sending them to school.
2. Keep your child home for at least 3 days if they are not feeling well - sick children should not be at school regardless of the cause of the illness.
3. Keep the lines of communication with the school open - we all want what is best for your child and working together we can accomplish that!

CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE MONTH
This month we’re talking about Gratitude! The dictionary defines it as: “the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.” The definition we are using in class is:
Gratitude: choosing to notice and appreciate things in our life, things in others, and things in the world.
Gratitude Activity
Start a Family Joy Journal where you keep an ongoing list of gifts (people, places, things) that you are grateful for and how you showed your Gratitude for that thing. Try to write in it each day for 30 days. Write as many things as you can think of for that day as possible. How many days until you reach 100? How about 1000?
