Penn Pride: We have. We are. Together.

Together ...

Together .... we come together to create a fun and profitable FUN NIGHT!

One week from tonight is FUN NIGHT. September 20 5:45 - 8:00 pm

Our PTO has worked diligently to put together a great fundraising event: games, food, bounce houses, silent auction, prizes, cake walk, face painting and more. This is a true carnival. And, it generates a major portion of the PTO budget. This provides so much for our school! This year one big focus is preparing for our playground upgrades that are scheduled for next summer. There are many ways to contribute: volunteer, attend, eat, bid at the silent auction -- there are lots of cool items and staff experiences for students. Together we can all contribute.

The money is great and valuable, but the evening accomplishes something greater than money and really priceless (to quote some old commercials). FUN NIGHT is a great opportunity for coming together to build our community, our pride. Parents you can meet your children's friends and their friends' parents. Kids have fun being together at school when it isn't school. There is eating together, playing together, laughing together and just being together.

FUN NIGHT is an opportunity for everyone to come TOGETHER. See you soon!

MILEAGE CLUB

Mileage Club is a great, voluntary opportunity for kids to get moving during recess. We encourage them by punching their mileage club card every time they make a lap. This is why we need volunteers ... to punch the cards and encourage the children. Could you help?

The mileage club is held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday during lunch recess. Please take a look to see if you can help. Thank you!

PTO Catalog Fundraiser

This week your student brought home the PTO catalog fundraiser materials. There is also a direct donation option if you'd rather opt out of the catalog fundraiser.

Through these fundraisers PTO is able to provide Penn with special programs, field trip transportation, clubs, family nights, teacher requested materials, fun events, playground structures, iPads, chrome books and so much more!

Students will earn prizes for selling things, but we feel very strongly that students should not go door to door by themselves.

Thank you! Your support is very much appreciated.

Hello, this is Penn Elementary ....

The first smile you see or friendly voice you hear at Penn belongs to our office secretary, Marge Hartman. She is always happy to help or find someone who can help. She's the person you call if your child isn't coming to school.

Marge is another example of someone experiencing change this school year. She just transitioned into this position in August after working at Penn for 7 years in the library. However, she has been part of the Penn community for even longer since both her sons attended here.

Feel free to call with any questions or to let us know about your child's absence: 319-688-1150 or email hartman.marge@iowacityschools.org.
