News for You

Password Update

Now that students are comfortable logging into their Chrome books, they have been advised to change their passwords. You can find your child's new password in the front cover of his/her planner. Passwords may be changed throughout the school year to maintain security and privacy. This is the password you and your child can use to check Gmail (ihapps account) and Google Classroom from home. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Google Classroom

We use Google Classroom for in-class assignments only. Every time a teacher posts an assignment in Google Classroom, your child receives an email. You may delete these emails, they are only meant to notify your child of new assignments. You are encouraged to log in from time to time to see what they're working on.

3rd Grade AIR Scores

Last week you received an envelope containing your child's 3rd grade AIR Math scores. Please know that ELA scores will be coming home soon. Thanks for your patience.

What's Going on in ELA + SS

This week in ELA we began reading The Kid Who Ran for President. Our main focus will be to summarize the text. We include four key details in a summary: the characters, the setting, both where and when, and the main event. Students can access an electronic version of this book on the website Storia. Log in information can be found in the front of their planner.

Today in SS we began our month-long unit on government. The following vocabulary words will be helpful in students' understanding of the unit:

As a reminder, students who wish to take the Map Skills quiz again will have the opportunity to do so on Thursday, September 1st. Study materials were sent home yesterday and can be found in your child's homework folder.

What's Going on in Math + Science

Our math class has been learning how to use and represent whole numbers through the millions place value. We will also be working on adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers. You can expect to see homework that provides practice with naming numbers in different ways, as well as rounding and estimating greater numbers. Here is a sample of how your child will be taught to write numbers in different forms.
