ELL Logistics for Administrators
WOW! We are fitting a lot in this half day! Check it out!
The Southern Indiana Education Center is excited to provide a workshop opportunity for school administrators who have or anticipate having English Language Learners in their building. What are the first logistical steps to make sure we are serving these students according to state guidance and best educational practices? What tests do they take? Who needs to know and apply the WIDA Standards? What classes should they take at the secondary level? These questions and more will be answered during this half day of professional learning and sharing. Adam Pitt, IDOE English Learner Specialist will guide participants through relevant and timely information including:
- What to do when a non-English speaker enrolls (Laws, Protocols, Home Language Survey, WIDA Screener, Parent Notification, etc.)
- What it means to be an English learner (Proficiency levels, the ILP, ACCESS testing)
- Logistical Best Practice (Program models, student clustering, designating lead teachers, etc.)
- Supporting Teachers (Instructional best practice overview, WIDA resources)
Please plan on joining us on September 19, 2017 for a time designed specifically for K-12 administrators who want to know more about how to best serve their teachers and English language learners. See below for more information!
