Ms. Marriah Willis

Dear Families,

WELCOME BACK!!! I hope you all had a great relaxing, enjoyable summer. I am very excited for the new school year. I can't wait to start working with each of you. My name is Marriah Willis and I am your new Dean of School Culture. I just wanted to give you some background information about me.

I am from Kansas City, Missouri. I come to East Chicago with experience teaching 2nd grade and working in a K-4 special education classroom. I come with knowledge and experience working with students with high behavior needs. I received my bachelor's degree from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. Go Yellowjackets!! I recently graduated with my Masters in Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University.

My job as the Dean of School Culture is as varied as the students I serve, which includes all the scholars at East Chicago. My job duties consists of a wide range of services that includes behavior consulting, individual and group counseling, information services, referral assistance to programs and services in the community, and student testing. I would like to share with you some of my goals for this school year:

~To help make school a successful experience.

~To help develop appropriate behavior patterns.

~To develop good communication skills.

~To develop appropriate problem-solving and decision making skills to resolve conflicts.
