Ripley Central School Elementary

We are counting our blessings! Thanksgiving Week, Nov. 2014

Below you will see many of the things we are thankful for at Ripley Central School. We can never list everything we are thankful for because the list is endless...but here's a beginning. May you remember all your blessings today!

Pictured below is our Tree of Gratitude. Students shared what they were thankful for on the colorful leaves. Thanks to Dr. Ormsby for the lessons on Graditude (one of the 7 Ripley Scholar Character Strengths we are working on this year), to Mrs. Braun for making the tree with her students, and to everyone who contributed to this in some way.

We are thankful for our students and staff at RCS. Adults and children alike are always ready and willing to step up and lend a helping hand. They certainly show social intelligence and zest in all they do. Two examples within two days: 5th graders created Reader's Theater Scripts, but the teachers needed help typing them. Without hesitation, two teachers, one of our secretaries and one of our teacher's aides took time out of their busy days to type the scripts! On Friday (our snow day) newsletters were needed for our senior citizens, without hesitation, two of our secretaries stepped up and made sure the seniors got their newsletter at their monthly luncheon. This is the spirit of RCS!

Spanish Club says "Gracias"

Mrs. Loretta Miller and her Learn Spanish through Technology Club members would like to say a big “gracias” to Dr. Ormsby for the opportunity to participate in this After School Program Club. Everyone enjoyed the chance to become familiar with Spanish/Mexican language, culture, and some foods. Here are links to the recipes we tried:

Each year 100,000+ students in grades 6-8 enter the VFW’s Patriot’s Pen youth essay contest. We at Ripley Central School Elementary are thankful to have such thoughtful students, such as these three who took 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for our school. Our first place winner, Luke, had his essay sent on to the next level of competition, but all three deserve a CONGRATULATIONS! This year's theme: Why I Appreciate America's Veterans.
