Week of April 19, 2021
Week of April 19th- 23rd, 2021
There is so much joy in the building that it warms my soul. Friday morning I was standing outside of first grade. I could hear a group of students just giggling. It was the best sound - happy children ready to learn.
Spring is here along with unsettled weather. Please remember that students do need to be in uniform and following the dress code in relation to shoes, hair, and fingernails. Please refer to your family handbook linked here. See pages 24 and 25.
Still at the top of the list: We are registering for the 2021-2022 school year. The first step will be to complete the registration Google form. If you register between now and 4/16, you do not have to put the $50 down; we will add it to the contract for later payment. Please click the link here. Also, all families registered by noon on 4/30 are entered into a special drawing on 4/30 for a $50 Gift Card to Amazon! We will do the drawing at noon live on our Facebook page. In our last drawing, Ms. Sims (Tyler) and Mrs. Burks (Robyn) were our winners! As a reminder 4/30 is not a school day for students, but we are still doing the drawing that day!
For those who already completed the Google Form, the financial contract will be emailed out for your acceptance in early May. We are planning for full in-person instruction for the 21-22 school which limits the number of students per classroom. Reserve your child's seat today! Remember that students entering kindergarten and sixth grade must have a physical completed. Students entering second and sixth must have a dental exam. Vision screenings are required for kindergarten students. Please make those appointments now! New students need all three!
Registration is open to new families, too. Do you know a new family, especially a preschool or kindergarten family? You will receive a $300 referral credit for any new family that registers! We are looking to enroll new preschoolers and kindergarteners for next year! Do you know anyone with 3, 4, or 5-year-olds? You could receive a special referral credit! Let us know.
Our Family Virtual Title I night is scheduled for May 5th. This is a free event for families of K-8 students. Students and their families will receive 1 kit per child (grade appropriate) with many different activities. The instructor will lead the student/family through one of the projects! If you haven't signed up, please do today! Please click here!
While we wait for the weather to improve, all students will enter the school at the main doors. Students must be in their classrooms, ready to work, when the 8 AM bell rings. Please have your students to school between 7:30 and 7:50. Students arriving late will go to the cafeteria to begin their morning work. Once there is a break in classroom instruction, they will go to their classroom. This minimizes the disruptions in classroom instruction.
As a school, we work hard to cultivate a culture of kindness in all we do as adults as well as with the students. We encourage acts of kindness. We encourage thinking of others first. In school, students are doing a great job. However, we are hearing/seeing some activity of student behavior on social media (outside of school hours) that is not kind nor in line with our school's philosophy. Please check your child's social media activity. When these issues come into school, we do act upon them and school rules will apply.
As a reminder, any person who is on our property must have their mask on properly (over the nose) as we work to keep everyone safe.
The school office is open from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Please call the office to make an appointment before stopping in. PAW donations may be dropped off between 9-1:30 or 2:30-3:30.

Parents will need to pick up their student(s) at 11 AM sharp. Students do not have to be in uniform, but they must be in school-appropriate clothing.
Students will be given a water bottle and a snack. Please do not send any food or drinks.
As always, call the office if you have questions.
While we know that these are very challenging times, the financial health of the school is important to its longevity.
All past due balances should be cleared by April 29th. If you are not sure of your balance and can't access your FACTS account, please contact the office on Monday.
As a reminder, families with children in PK4, K, and Grade 8: All PAWS and finances must be clear by 5/15 for your child to participate in any graduation (virtual -PK & Kindergarten or live for grade 8).
