COVID-19 Guidelines for 2021-22
We continue to work closely with the Douglas County Health Department and area medical experts as we plan for the 2021-22 school year and COVID-19 guidelines. We are considering several variables, include vaccine availability to our younger students, current trends in the Omaha metro area, and the new variant of this virus. We will continue to follow the expert advice of the Douglas County Health Department and medical professionals.
With that, please continue to monitor your email and newsletters for specific COVID-19 guidelines as we approach the 2021-22 school year. This is a process we take extremely seriously, and we want to ensure decisions are based on as current information possible, to best serve and protect all students and staff at Westside Community Schools.
If you have questions about vaccines, please work with your pediatrician or family doctor. You may find vaccination information at Douglas County Health Department as well as Children’s Health and Medical Center Omaha.
Westside Community Schools will remain committed to enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols. We will also continue with frequent hand sanitizing and washing and watching our distance the best we can. Parents will continue to be asked to screen their children daily for COVID-19 symptoms and keep them at home if they are ill with this virus or any other sickness.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement.

Message From Board of Education President, Doug Krenzer
Greetings, Westside community. I hope you are enjoying the summer, despite our recent severe weather. I have the privilege of serving as Board of Education president this year. It was almost a year ago when we gathered with staff on Phelps Field to begin a year unlike any in our history. The storm clouds that day were perhaps a sign of the difficulties ahead. But our students, staff, and community persevered, despite the constant challenges. On behalf of the entire board, we are excited to safely return to all the things we care so much about throughout the school year: performances, games, dances, and most of all, learning. Please have a safe and relaxing rest of the summer. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Yours in Education,
Doug Krenzer
