Upstream Arts Summer Opportunities
Upstream Arts has an opportunity to participate in an program at Artistry in Bloomington during the summer months. Artistry has been a wonderful partner in hosting programs. The classes will be Monday evenings, starting June 11th, and are open to individuals with disabilities 16 years of age and older.
You can find out more about the program here: https://www.upstreamarts.org/2018/05/22/open-enrollment-for-summer-programs-at-artistry/
On June 11th Upstream Arts is also facilitating The Art of Voice and Choice, a community training on Person Centered Planning and Informed Choice for service providers, family, and people with disabilities. More info can be found at the link above as well.
See the attached flyers for more info!
EOY checkout forms were placed in mailboxes. Ask Traci for another if you misplaced yours.
Everyone needs to turn in a check out form.
For teachers that do grades and attendance, I also have another form that needs to be filled out. This is a Student Accounting requirement.
If you are choosing to work from home on Wednesday, you will need to do your check out on Tuesday. If you are doing your grades remotely on Wednesday, I will verify grades on Thursday morning. All grades need to be done by Wednesday at 4:00.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Mindfulness in Education Summer Institute
The Bakken Center for Spirituality & Healing at the University of Minnesota is hosting their second annual Mindfulness in Education Summer Institute, June 18-20th at Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis (registration link).
The Institute brings together academic scholars and educators for 3 days of cutting edge research, teaching demonstrations, networking and hands-on workshops. This year features 3 program tracks for participants: new to mindfulness, administrators, and alumni/experienced practitioners. Participants can pick and choose which sessions they wish to attend, but these tracks offer cohesive learning paths for specific audiences.
Please see the attached flyer for more information.

We still strongly encourage you to begin this work ASAP.
Related to this effort, we have put together some resources to support you through this transition:

CBI Friday option for students interested in computer programming
Friday mornings next year, I will be offering a course focused on the Python programming language. It will include lessons from MCTC ITEC 1150, Programming Logic and Design. Students who are taking computer science class 2nd hour, and others who may be interested in qualifying for 3 college credits, should consider this option. There will be a couple of field trips during the year, but it’s a graded class (not a drop in situation).
Thanks for keeping it in the back of your mind. ?s…mary.bock@mpls.k12.mn.us
