Lee's Summit Parents As Teachers

March 2016 Newsletter

You are your child's first and most important teacher!

Hurry up Spring!

These last few days of warmer weather have been very inviting to get outside and play. Remember, children learn best through active play. Play helps children learn to make sense of the world around them. During play children are involved in self-discovery and as they use their senses, their brains develop in many areas too! The result is a better understanding of how their world works. I encourage you to take advantage of one of the many parks we have in our community to enjoy and play!

Happy Playing!

Getting your kids to eat...what to eat, how much to eat, should I let them have snacks????

These are great questions and your parent educator can help! Be sure to ask if you are wanting some additional information regarding basic nutritional guidelines or strategies to deal with common eating behaviors.

R-7 offers Let’s Talk! to enhance communications with community

Submit questions, comments, suggestions, concerns and compliments 24/7

Lee’s Summit R-7 is making it even easier to reach school district leadership with the fall 2015 launch of a new, cloud-based communications tool, known as Let’s Talk! Community members, staff and students are invited to contact the district with questions, comments, suggestions, concerns or compliments via the website at http://ow.ly/URd9C or via the Let’s Talk! option on the district’s homepage at www.lsr7.net.

With Let’s Talk!, individuals may visit the district’s website 24/7 to communicate with various departments on a wide variety of topics. In return, district officials pledge to respond within a reasonable time frame, normally within just a couple of days at the most. Submissions may be anonymous although to receive a personal response, you must include contact information.

The goal of Let’s Talk! is to streamline communication, identify opportunities for engagement, spot potential hot topics and build stronger community relationships. It helps facilitate an open dialogue between district leaders and citizens while offering unique features that help the school district track the quality of its service for continual improvement.
