2nd Grade @ ROE
#AdventureAwaits
Week of : September 3-6
Welcome
We are so excited for all of our new friends that have joined us in 2nd grade! This year is going to be filled with lots of fun adventures and laughter. We invite you to join us on our adventure of positive energy! Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
2nd Grade Adventures
In order to promote high attendance, we will be spelling out the word ATTENDANCE. Each day that our class has 100% attendance a letter will be added. When the whole word is spelled out, we will celebrate. We will also have a school wide prize for the grade level with the highest attendance. Please help us reach our goal in 2nd grade!
Students collaborated to complete a noun activity.
"Together we can do great things" - Mother Teresa
Reading with a friend is always fun!
Academics
ELAR: This weeks reading theme is finding your way in a new place. We will read several stories and students will discuss character changes and practice making connections to the story.
Math: This week students will explain the place value of digits and review the different ways to write a number up to 1,200.
Science: We will collect, record and compare information.
Social Studies: Students will practice reading maps, using a map key, compass rose and a map scale.
Students worked hard to write and display numbers in different ways!
Family Focus
This year we are taking more of a family focused approach to homework. We believe that spending quality family time is vital in the success of your student. We will provide family friendly, engaging homework activities and assignments. We would love if you would send us pictures of these activities and share them with us.
This weeks Family focus:
Have discussions about the importance of being kind. Here are 2 important things to ask your child after school each day:
-Tell me about someone being nice to you.
-Tell me about how you were nice to someone else.
