Callisto, The Famous Moon Of Jupiter
Callisto is one of the most heavily cratered objects in the Solar System. It is 2,985 miles in diameter. It is the second largest moon of Jupiter and that it is the third biggest moon in the Solar System. It is atmosphere is mainly carbon dioxide and molecular oxygen.
Physical Properties
Like I stated Callisto is full of many craters that covers it darks surface. Vallah is one example of a huge crater and so is another one Asgard. It has water ice and rock material. It is also very cold there. A chilling 218.47 degrees below zero!
Age and Discovery
Callisto was discovered on January 7,1610 by Galileo Galilei, who had discovered Jupiter and its 3 other moons, Io, Europa, and Ganymede. Callisto is almost as old as Jupiter itself which is aaround 4.5 billion years old.
Rotation, Movement, and Location
It orbits at a rate of 18,400 mph and takes 16 days to make one orbit, It is located 1,169,885 miles away from Jupiter.
