Pa State: Universal Masking Order
Revisions to the masking order were effective at 12 a.m. on November 18. The secretary of health has directed that everyone should wear an appropriate face covering, both indoors and outdoors. The face covering procedures outlined within the Central Bucks' Health and Safety Plan are already in compliance with the revised order. The order continues to allow for appropriate “mask breaks,” and for students to remove their mask during breakfast and lunch.
The order reinforces the necessity to mask, even when outdoors. During outdoor activities, students will be required to maintain sustained physical distance whenever they are unmasked. When participating in an outdoor activity that precludes physical distancing, students will be required to wear a mask.
Find more information on the questions and answers page here. More information about when student athletes must wear face coverings on our website here. At this time, face shields of any kind (without a mask) are not in compliance with the updated order.
NAESP: Report to Parents - Warmer Weather, Healthier Habits
Students and staff will continue to follow the District's Health and Safety plan for recesses moving into the spring, as well.
Important Announcements
PSSA 2021 - Planning for Mandated State Assessments
A survey recently was shared for our virtual families (only) to complete by March 15th (today). To help us schedule PSSA testing, CB is asking families of students who are enrolled in the 100% virtual program to complete a short PSSA Testing for Virtual Students Survey. This will assist us in having an approximate count for students coming into school to take the assessment in-person while continuing to align with the CBSD Health & Safety Plan.
3rd TM - Optional Homework
Plus, in response to the success of our "Drop Everything and Read" campaign during Read Across America Week, Butler wants to keep the the joy of reading - going! We are encouraging Independent Reading at home to continue in each grade level during the 3rd-trimester. There is no set-time requirement - and feel free to change it up...
- children can read independently,
- read aloud to their siblings/parents/pet/stuffed animal,
- be read to by parents/grandparents/guardians,
- or any other creative ways the children decide!
Research shows the overwhelming benefits of a child's exposure to reading on a consistent basis!

#choosetoinclude - Autism Awareness and Special Olympics at CB South
In recent years, the South Special Education Department has created a t-shirt to support Autism Awareness and to celebrate our differently-abled students. This year, CB South is partnering with our Unified Track Team to promote and support the Special Olympics #choosetoinclude campaign. Proceeds benefit our very own CB South Special Olympics Unified Track Team! In an effort of unity and inclusion in our South Community, information is being shared with families.
CLICK HERE for link to the Kampus Klothes store. Shirts can be delivered directly to home or shipped to CB South. If choosing bulk delivery to South, we will then make sure the orders get to your building.

School Happenings
Read Across America Week - Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
Read Across America D.E.A.R. Time (Drop Everything and Read!)
A friendly competition of reading minutes was calculated the week of Read Across America - as classrooms tallied total minutes of "Drop Everything and Read" time across the week. Independent reading has a direct relation to increased reading stamina, fluency, and comprehension (and more!) for students. Plus it helps children grow their imaginations, imagery, and work across the other content areas. Congratulations to Mrs. Szczypiorski's 3rd Grade Building DEAR Champions with ____ total class minutes! Honorable mention to Mrs. Charter's 4th Graders with ______ total minutes read by the class!
