Wildcat Families-
Coming out of the closing night for our spring musical, "Little Shop Of Horrors", I could not have been more proud of our students, staff and community. The show was sold out, the students performed amazingly and the energy was so positive. After the show, there was also the cheer squad tryouts happening and so just a whole lot of students doing things to be engaged. "Get Involved" is something we tell students all of the time. High school is a time to try things. Go to a club meeting, try out for a team, sign up to participate in an activity. These are all chances for students to stretch themselves, engage with other students and explore interests. We still have a few months left of school and I encourage students to keep engaged and for families to come out and support the many things happening at WSHS. I also encouraged parents to check out some of the great adult community building activities coming up in the next couple months as well including the Parents Social on Tuesday and the West Seattle 5k. More information on those activities is below.
Go Wildcats!!

APRIL 17-21 SOPHOMORE SMARTER BALANCED ASSESSMENTS
Sophomores will be taking the Smarter Balance ELA assessment when they return from spring break.
Sophomores will report directly to the Library with their SPS issued laptop, during their ELA class, April 17-21st.
Smarter Balanced Assessments
State assessments are required for federal accountability and also provide a common measure of student progress at the school, district and state levels.
Our educators examine the results and use them to help determine which resources and supports are needed to close achievement gaps.
Visit the district Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) page to learn more about the testing. In addition, the district Smarter Balanced FAQ & Resources page may help to answer any questions you may have as well.
Seattle Public Schools recognizes the right of parents/guardians to be notified of all state and district mandated student assessments. A formal right of refusal procedure for state assessments must be completed online
