November is HERE!
Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up!
They are scheduled for Monday November 8th and Thursday November 11th.
Please do NOT forget to sign up! Forms have been sent home with your students. Conferences start at 3:45pm and end at 7:00pm. They will be held virtually this year and your students' teacher will send the appropriate zoom link.
If you didn't receive a form, please contact Gina Shimer at gshimer@columbus.k12.oh.us or 614-361-4205.
Need an interpreter for your conference? Contact Gina as well. We want to ensure all our families have the BEST opportunity to connect with their students teacher and the school.
Every Thursday our Kindergartners celebrate the color of the week that they are learning! We ask everyone to celebrate with them and wear the colors they are learning! Below is the schedule! Consider having your student share in the fun with them!!
November 4th- PINK
November 11th-GRAY
November 18th- WHITE
Binns Elementary will be hosting a Book Fair from November 1st-November 12th. We are hoping to earn several books to add to our library for ALL of our students to enjoy. Cash and E-Wallet will be accepted. See the website below for more details.
We have been giving away shout-outs this year. This is part of our PBIS initiative! PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports. Our goal is to recognize POSITIVE behavior and hope to encourage an environment of good choices! When your student is caught doing something GREAT, following our Binns ABCs Bulldog Expectations, or going above and beyond in the classroom we recognize them for that behavior. They get a recognition flyer, their name announced on the announcements in front of the entire school, a call home and a prize. At the end of each month ONE student per grade will be chosen as our KIDS OF CHARACTER for the month. Their families will be invited to BRING a special lunch to share with their student in the Gymnasium. These will be held once a month!
Our students are doing AWESOME!
September- 104 Shout Outs
October-149 Shout Outs
YOGA CLUB
We are excited to share that Yoga Club is back! One of our OTs, Ms. Sandy Gale, offers this as an alternative to recess. Each grade level will get two months to participate throughout the school year.
In Yoga Club we are learning about how yoga and mindfulness are great ways to help strengthen and calm our mind and bodies. Both yoga and mindfulness have so many benefits to offer to all of us, i.e improve self-regulation, self-confidence, academic readiness, social and peer interactions to just name a few!
Each week is different, sometimes we will do "themed" yoga, i.e. Fall, Back to School, Spring, etc. Sometimes we'll have challenges, play yoga games or the students will lead the sessions by choosing their favorites poses to do. We are also learning many different breathing techniques to help regulate our bodies. Ask your child if they have participated, and if they have, maybe you can enjoy some yoga together at home!
