All School Picnic
The Ridgeway Picnic will be Tuesday, May 24. School lunch for that day will be hot dogs, carrots, applesauce, cheese stick, Doritos, and milk. Students also have the option to bring a lunch from home. All students will travel to the park first thing in the morning and return to school for dismissal. Ridgeway staff supervise this day, so parent volunteers are not needed. A few notes about the day:
- We will be outside for the majority of the day. Please put sunscreen and bug spray on your child.
- Your child should wear tennis shoes and be dressed for the weather.
- All students are welcome to bring a water bottle labeled with their name.
- Apple slices will be served for morning snack.
All School Picnic Snack
Our tradition is to have a community snack in the afternoon. Students may bring a snack to share. Any donations are welcome! Please send 8-10 individual serving-size snack bags of snacks. Some suggestions might be: washed and ready-to-serve fruit, bags of chips or pretzels, Cheezits, small packs of cookies, etc. No items containing nuts should be sent for the community snack. Please send these snacks to school from May 20-23. Fruit may be sent on May 23-24 to keep it fresh.
Field Day
Ridgeway Field Day is Wednesday, May 25. Students will eat an early lunch and then spend the afternoon outdoors at Field Day activities. Please send your child in comfortable clothes and tennis shoes. Students will get wet and dirty, no fancy clothes, please!
Principal's Pen
On the last day of school, each student will bring home a large envelope labeled with their name. Please look for this envelope. It will contain your child’s progress report, the trimester specialist report, a school year calendar and supply list for the 2022-2023 school year, and a yearbook insert. Our PTSA Yearbook committee has published this yearbook insert, with pictures of Spirit Week and FunDay, for you to slip inside your yearbook. Each student will also bring home their Ridgeway Yearbook. Thank you to Ridgeway PTSA for purchasing a yearbook for every student!

Kindness Week was a great opportunity for RWE students to practice acts of kindness. Students wrote poems, adopted other classes to shower with kindness, were “caught being kind”, listened to Children’s Literature, wrote kindness poems and wrote how to lend a hand a kindness to created our kindness bulletin board. In Art, Ms. Renaud and students made art for others, and friendship bracelets to share with our neighbors at City of Refuge. A big shout out and thank you to everyone that donated basic needs items for City of Refuge. We brought over 3 huge loads of donations and they are very grateful to partner with RWE. Check out their website to see more ways you can help. https://cityofrefugecolumbia.org/ We also had an assembly with a Readers Theatre performed by Kindness Club, “Otter Be Kind” and poems presented by Mrs. Lawson and the Kindness Pledge presented by Mr. Pittman. We ended the week with a Kindness is Magical Magic Show and fun was had by all with a reminder to be kind to self and others. Thank you to Ms. Meeds who performed songs from Honors Choir. 😊 We also sang the RWE School Song. Go Ridgeway!
