Portable Devices
Laptop
Carries out the same functions as a computer but is designed to be more light and portable so it can be carried around.
Notebook
Similar to a laptop but it’s even more compact.
Netbook
Similar to a notebook but designed to be used for wireless communication. Usually cheaper and has a lower specification.
PDA
Small enough to be held in the palm of your hand, usually contains an address book, note making features, a telephone and internet features.
Peripherals
Inputs
Whatever goes into a computer, it is a device that feeds data into a computer that allows the user to input data into the computer.
Output
Produce, deliver, or supply (data) using a computer or other device
Optical Storage
Storage of large amounts of data in permanent form on photographic film
Magnetic Storage
Any storage medium in which different patterns of magnetization are used to represent stored bits or bytes of information (The medium can be erased and reused over and over again).
