District 33 values the partnership of parents, guardians, and family members in supporting student success and making decisions about their education.
Below is a list of opportunities to get involved and participate in district decision-making. Please complete the committee sign-up form if you want to join a committee.
CITIZEN ADVISORY COUNCIL (CAC)
The primary purpose of the Citizens' Advisory Council (CAC) is to provide feedback on key district issues and initiatives impacting the schools and community.
Composition: Parents, guardians, staff, administrators, board members, community partners
Past Accomplishments:
- Input on transitions between preschool and elementary school, elementary and middle school, middle school and high school
- Input on parent-teacher communication regarding academic progress
- Input on school year calendars

CONSEJO ASESOR CIUDADANO (CAC)
El objetivo principal del Consejo Asesor Ciudadano (CAC) es brindar comentarios sobre cuestiones e iniciativas clave del distrito que impactan a las escuelas y la comunidad. 23-24 Entregables del Comité Los resultados del comité serán determinados por los miembros en la primera reunión. TECHNOLOGY STEERING COMMITTEE
Responsibilities include:
Monitoring our 3-year Technology Plan that is aligned to the D33 Strategic Plan
Assessing the technology needs of students, staff, and the district
Reviewing the current technology mandates and standards for integration into our curriculum
Evaluating the effectiveness of our current instructional technology tools/resources
Exploring and recommending technology tools/resources and instructional technology models
Providing input for the professional development of staff
Providing input on parent learning sessions related to technology use for students and parents
23-24 Committee Deliverables:
- Develop criteria for the use of Artificial Intelligence for students and staff
- Update the District 1:1 Program Guide
- Determine the structure and criteria for a STEM Fair in Spring of 2024

Board of Education member, district and building admin, parents, representation from classroom teachers from various schools, instructional coaches, library media specialists, lead technology teachers, paraprofessionals, and classified technology staff

El Comité Directivo de Tecnología del D33
El Comité Directivo del Distrito 33 es un grupo representativo del personal del distrito y miembros de la comunidad responsables de lo siguiente:
- Monitorear nuestro Plan de Tecnología de 3 años que va alineado con el Plan Estratégico del D33
- Evaluar las necesidades de tecnología de los estudiantes, personal, y el distrito
- Revisar los mandatos y estándares de tecnología vigentes para su integración a nuestro currículum
- Evaluar la efectividad de nuestros herramientas de enseñanza de tecnología actuales
- Explorar y recomendar herramientas de tecnología, así como modelos de enseñanza de tecnología
- Proporcionar apoyo a la capacitación profesional de nuestro personal
- Proporcionar apoyo a sesiones de orientación para padres de familia relacionadas con el uso de tecnología para estudiantes y padres
Metas del comité para el 23-24:
- Desarrollar criterio para el uso de Inteligencia Artificial para estudiantes y personal
- Actualizar el Programa de 1:1 del distrito
- Determinar la estructura y criterio para una feria de STEM en la primavera de 2024

BILINGUAL PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL (BPAC)
¿Quién forma parte de este comité?
BPAC está compuesto por padres cuyos estudiantes están en el programa bilingüe o cuyos estudiantes reciben apoyo de inglés como segundo idioma (ESL) y personal del distrito, incluida la Directora de Estudiantes Multilingües, Kellie Barros.
¿Qué hace este comité?
Buscamos el desarrollo educativo de los estudiantes bilingües, trabajando junto con los padres, maestros y el distrito escolar para lograr ese objetivo. Brindamos apoyo e información educativa a familias bilingües. Los miembros del comité BPAC se reunirán antes de los eventos para planificarlos.

BLACK TALENTED AND GIFTED GROUP (BTAGG)
Responsibilities:
- Advocacy: Represent the interests and needs of black students, parents, and families
- Regularly gather feedback from students, parents, and staff to identify areas of improvement and inform committee initiatives
- Recognize and celebrate the achievements of black students, parents, and staff
23-24 Committee Deliverables:
- Organize events, workshops, and activities that celebrate black culture and history fostering a sense of belonging and pride
- Develop mentorship initiatives that pair black students with teachers or community members, providing guidance and support

GIFTED AND TALENTED EDUCATION (GATE) PARENT ADVISORY
Responsibilities:
- To ensure the alignment of GATE curriculum, instruction, and assessment efforts align with the District Strategic Plan
- To provide parents and staff with learning opportunities related to gifted students
- To plan opportunities for GATE students beyond the school day for enrichment
- To evaluate the effectiveness of the GATE identification process
- To gather parent and teacher input on the GATE program
23-24 Committee Deliverables:
- Plan GATE events for the 23-24 school year
- Review Elementary and Middle School GATE programs
- Review the resources used for the program and determine if other resources are needed
- Review GATE program data
