Message from the Principal
Dear Central Road Families,
I hope you had an enjoyable and restful Thanksgiving with your families! During the month of December, all of our students will be engaging in learning remotely. In-person classes will resume on Tuesday, January 5th.
Our school office will be open during remote learning. Please contact us or stop by our office at any time for assistance.
Our PTA will be rescheduling our food drive after we return to in-person learning. We thank you for your flexibility while we adjust our timeline.
The next PTA meeting will take place in January. Historically, in the month of December, the PTA has hosted a social gathering for our parent volunteers. This year, due to the pandemic, our PTA is unable to host the event. We look forward to meeting with you in January to talk about new ways to engage our students and families!
As the holiday season quickly approaches, families are beginning to plan to show their appreciation of our staff. All classrooms will be virtual during the month of December. Families may elect to mail a holiday card to our office or drop off a gift with the student and staff member's name clearly labeled on the item. We will contact the teachers and invite them to the building to pick-up any gifts that were mailed or dropped off. I also encourage families to use digital greeting cards as a way to show your appreciation.
Central Road will continue to support our family’s health and safety during virtual learning. If your family needs health resources or any assistance, please call our nurse, Mrs. Amita Patel at 847-963-5102 or email her at patela1@ccsd15.net
Picture retakes have been rescheduled for Friday, January 22nd. I will send out a reminder in January.
Let’s make it a great week!
Warmly,
Patti Van Winkle, Principal
Health World Information
Dear Parents,
Health and Human Growth is part of our D15 curriculum at all grade levels. We have had several questions in regard to providing instruction for our health curriculum during our unique 2020-21 school year. We understand that some of our schools provide this instruction in gender specific classrooms and that due to the advent of not being in our schools, this is not possible at this time. Additionally, conversations surrounding puberty and other sensitive topics are best done while in a traditional classroom or in smaller virtual meetings. However, we also know that because our students at home may not have privacy, this is not the best scenario for delivery of this content.
We have asked our teachers to provide lessons that relate to food, personal care and general wellness as part of the distance learning instruction. These will meet the guidelines for health during our distance learning. Topics that are “sensitive” will not be addressed during distance learning.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.
Thank you,
The Department of Teaching and Learning.
Queridos padres,
Gracias,
El Departamento de Enseñanza y Aprendizaje.
