Monty Moments: Seeing the World Through our Children's Eyes
Tigers,
When people ask me do you enjoy your job? My immediate response is YES!!! It sometimes throws people off because many people are ready for me to respond with how hard it is, how much work it is and it is it all of those things. Yet, this year I went into the year with a goal to focus on the positive. I knew since I was a child I wanted to be an educator. Every role model in my life has been a teacher. The teachers in my life who have had the biggest impact on me are still a part of my life. The lessons they taught me, to the advise they gave me, to lunches and dinners every few months. Each time I have a wonderful conversation with a student or get a sweet note or card or drawing from a student it reminds me how each one of us plays such an important role in these students life.
Educators have an incredible way of building students up and helping kids believe in themselves. Educators go into education because they love to help kids become the best version of themselves. So as we head into this holiday season and we are all getting stressed out about plans and events pause for a moment and ask your children some of these questions about school. I have been doing this with my own boys after school and I get the greatest responses and I can tell how much their teachers, staff and principal cares about them.
Questions to Ask: (Stay Curious)
- What is something that made you laugh today?
-What is something you are proud of that you did today?
-Who is someone you helped today?
- Did you give any one a compliment or receive a compliment?
- What is a goal you have to make tomorrow an even better day? (socially or academically or both)
I love happy emails so if you get any great response I would love to hear them!!

Shelleyann Keelean
Fan Faces News
The Fan Faces did an amazing job representing Monteith at the Parcells Holiday Bazaar! Fan Faces earned approximately $230 in sales, handed out countless order forms, and connected with many members of our community! We made several orders on the spot, while customers shopped, including a dog bookmark, a kayak ornament, and a large basketball player! We also took several orders that we will make in the coming weeks. Fan Faces will be donating 1/2 of the days sales to the Motor City Mitten Mission.

November Monteith Library Update
The 2022 Monteith Virtual Parade is FINALLY ready to roll and the first annual Monty's Maker Month is complete!
The students worked all month learning about the design process, being an innovator, learning from mistakes, collaborating with a team, creating a design and ultimately bringing their design to life with various materials and challenges.
We filmed the parade in front of a green screen and I am not ashamed to say that I also learned A LOT about what not to do next year. (Like reminding kids not to wear green or create a project that is full of green materials!) They are very proud of what they created and love seeing themselves on camera.
Thanks for your support, extra supplies, and time. Enjoy the parade and look for another school wide video at the end of December.
