Iron Bowl Competition 2019
This is Iron Bowl Week .....this means competition between the fans!!
We will have a friendly competition while supporting our communities.
I am encouraging all staff and students to donate their favorite box of Mac & Cheese. Whichever team receives the most boxes donated wins!!
The Salvation Army, Cherokee First Baptist Compassion Outreach Ministry and The Caring Center are the benefactors....our community wins!!!

Community Development Grants
Colbert County Schools was awarded 28 grants totaling $46,849.60
Happy Friday! Can you please have your teachers let Miss Yarber know if they received Community Development Grants ? She will want to make sure because the Ed Foundation meets next Tuesday to vote on classroom grants. A few of these look very similar. She will need this information ASAP. Thank you!
Cherokee Elementary School
CES had Curtis Burns and Mik Booth of the Colbert County drug task force come speak. They also hosted Dewayne Malone and the Rescue Me Project come and speak about bullying!
Safeplace, Inc. spoke about good touch/bad touch. They have also had Angela Hulsey, the Colbert County ADA, coming to speak about bullying, social media, and the dangers that come with using those.
CES had lots of faculty participate in world kindness day this week, by wearing cardigans in the spirit of Mr. Rogers! Then, Will Heaps, executive vice president and founding member of Merritt Bank, came to speak to our 5th and 6th graders today!
As you can see.... great things are happening at CES!!

There have been numerous events to support the Education Foundation.
If you can not make an event, please send someone who loves kids and who wants to support our instructional staff.

Experience a walk back into time of Christmas’ Past: Tour Pioneer Log Buildings Purchase Handmade Crafts and Homemade Baked Items. Take a Wagon Hay Ride to the Old LaGrange Cemetery. Enjoy Entertainment, Refreshments and visit with Santa. Bring your camera.
Observatory Open for Stargazers. Visit fabric Spinner, Toni Tidwell demonstrating in the log kitchen, Blacksmith will be demonstrating at Blacksmith Shop, Country Store and Post Office open and more!
