At Home Learning Update
With Gratitude
Good morning everyone,
Welcome to week 2 of our school closure! This is certainly uncharted territory for us and we will be figuring things out as we go. This last week has shown the best of our community- despite the challenging time. We have received numerous message from families of well wishes and concern. In addition, our Medway team distributed medication, chrome books, and "To go" food packs to anyone who needed one. Our central office staff has been in frequent communication with the faculty and staff as well as the community. Our teaching staff reached out to families, planned at home learning experiences, and checked in with one another via Zoom or Google Hangout. While there is no "Planbook" for what we are going through, for the most part, we have managed it with great care and grace. I am so appreciative and proud of our entire team's effort!
We know that like many of us, you are also juggling working from home and helping your students stay engaged. Our teachers have created learning experiences that are fun and engaging and we hope you can enjoy them with your child(ren). None of the activities are meant to stress you or your child(ren) in any way. If you are finding it hard to fit it all in while working from home, reach out to your child's teacher to find out the most important things your child can engage in during the day. If nothing else, please also continue to read with your child(ren) every day.
If there is anything we can do, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Stay well,
Amanda

At Home Learning -
We have brought all of our resources together in a new School Closure Learning and Support webpage which can be accessed through our website or here. This website will be updated frequently as new or different information becomes available. Families can access alternative enhancement student learning plans for all of our PK-12 students through this site on a week to week basis; new learning plans will be posted by late Friday afternoon for the following week. If you have suggestions for additional information to be included on this webpage, please contact Gabby Abrams, Assistant Superintendent at gabrams@medwayschools.org.
Faculty Office Hours
All teachers have set up virtual "Office Hours." The purpose of this time is to connect with students and families via email, chat or Google Meet/Zoom; answer any questions you may have; and/or to provide feedback to students. You can see a list of Memorial teacher's office hours here. Please be patient as we navigate this new world of meeting online and know that many of our teachers are also juggling families and four legged friends at home to
Support of Our Greater Community
Our Coordinator of School Counseling services has worked collaboratively with our school counseling and student support teams to pull together a comprehensive list of resources for individual and family support. These resources can be found here and they range from behavioral health contacts to information about our local food pantry.
Through a rich partnership with the Medway Village Church Food Pantry, and our Wellness and Food Service Departments, we will be ensuring that our families are supported with meals during this challenging time. Families in need of support are asked to review the following options and sign-up for a choice that best matches their need.
Breakfast and lunch pick-up: A “grab and go” breakfast and lunch will be available for pick-up, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, outside of the Medway Middle School main entrance from 7:00-9:00 a.m. These meals will include an entree, side of fruit and/or vegetable, and milk. Parents and guardians will be able to pull-up to the Medway Middle School front entrance and pick up their meals without having to leave their vehicle. As noted in the change above, families will be able to pick up two days worth of meals each day of service in order to reduce the number of trips they have to make each week.
Weekly food pick-up: A week’s worth of food can be picked up at the Medway Village Church Food Pantry on Saturday mornings from 9:00-10:00 a.m. or by scheduling an appointment time with the Food Pantry Director. Food offerings will include “family size” portions of meal ingredients and kid-friendly single-serve meals.
Both M, W, F and weekly food pick-up: Medway families are more than welcome to participate in both of the above options in order to access prepared meals and larger sized ingredients each week.
To register for one or both food pick-up options please click here.
Virtual Meetings Through Zoom
Due to the current social distancing protocols in place to protect our community from the increased threat of COVID 19, we are now conducting our meetings via the Zoom video conferencing application. If you receive a meeting invitation from the schools you can join the conversation by following these steps:
Please navigate to the calendar event on your computer or smartphone for information to Join Zoom meeting.
There you will see that you can use the “phone in” audio feature or use your computer audio feature.
Please find your “mute” button upon entry so that you know where that is located.
Please use the Chat section and Hand Raise function to participate in conversations.
Please also find this video tutorial outlining how to use Zoom.
If you are scheduled for a Zoom meeting and you do not feel comfortable in this platform, please contact the meeting organizer via email for support.
Student Services
Medway’s Office of Student Services is working with school principals to support the enriched learning that is being offered to all students. As plans at the state and federal level are formulated, we will provide you with the most up to date information that we have.
Those guidelines may be found in this document issued by the Office of Special Education Programming: OSEP Guidance issued March 2020. At this time, the district’s guidelines may be found here.
Access to Technology
Starting on Monday, March 23, students will be receiving communication from their teachers regarding enrichment experiences for student engagement during this school closure. Recognizing that our list of resources includes several technology related tools for learners at all grade levels we are reaching out to ensure access for all.
If your household does not have access to a device, such as a desktop/laptop, iPad, or chromebook, during this school closure, please contact Medway Technical Support to arrange a device be made available and pickup options. To reach technical support, please email support@medwayschools.org or call 508-321-4799 and a support specialist will respond to assist you as best we can.
All pick-ups will take place at Medway Middle School located at 45 Holliston Street.
In addition, families may benefit from knowing that Comcast has made their Internet Essentials product free during this current situation. More information can be found here.
