March 28 - New Middle School Science Teacher Cohort
Often times, new teachers are overwhelmed their first year in the classroom. This cohort is designed to allow new science teachers time to study their standards, learn and improve teaching strategies, and plan with other teachers. Participants will meet face to face, either in Kilgore or on their own campuses, as well as online throughout the year.
Arpil 10th - Middle School Science the "Write Way"
In this session, we will look at how to use science notebooks to integrate expository writing into your science instruction in a way that's purposeful and meaningful to you and your students. Come learn tips for implementing various writing strategies for reasoning, data analysis, conclusions, assessments and more.
April 11th - TEKS Resource System: Making Vocabulary Fun
If you've got the time, we've got the games! Learn about Marzano's vocabulary development as we explore multiple ways to expose students to academic vocabulary. Join us as we share games and activities that allow students to play as they learn the terms.
April 18th - Innovative Technology in the Middle School Science Classroom
Technology is a reality for the 21st century learner. Come investigate ways to effectively integrate technology into the middle school science classroom through the use of apps, smart devices, and computers and how technology can help transform data into discovery.
May 5th - Formative Assessment in Secondary Science
How do you know what your students know? Explore the use of formative assessments to inform teacher planning and instruction, to guide student learning, and to target interventions. Take a closer look at how to develop formative assessments and rubrics that are meaningful and lead to more focused teaching and learning.
