Open Building/Schedule Pick-up
8:30-11:30 A-K
12:00-3:00 L-Z
During this time, students will receive their schedules, have the opportunity to walk the building, try their lockers and store some supplies that they have already purchased. Our school counselor, Julia Cabral will be available for questions and the front office team will be present as well to assist.
School Supply Kits:
If you ordered a School Supply Kit, these will be available for pick-up in the cafeteria during Open Building times.
Lockers:
We will be utilizing lockers this year and students can have some fun personalizing their space. The focus of function over fashion is always a great reminder. All decorations must be removable. Stickers on the inside and outside are not permitted. We ask that outside decorations are limited for ease of cleaning. A magnet on the outside is always helpful for a student to be able to quickly find their locker.
Medication:
Parents/Guardians can drop student medication to the clinic/office during Open Building. Our nurse, Mrs. Terri Dell will be available from 8:00-11:00 for questions. In order to drop off medication, you must have the Permission to Administer Medication form completed. This form can be found on the MMS website under Forms/Documents.
Any schedule not picked-up on August 11th will be mailed home. School Supply Kits that are not picked-up on this day will be placed in the office for pick-up.
5th Grade Orientation
Supply Lists
Specific grade level school supply lists can be found on our building website and in the below attachments:
Chromebooks
Students will be given back the same chromebook each year that was issued when entering MMS in 5th grade. A cover to protect their device is recommended to keep them protected throughout these four years.
Madeira Middle School Schedule
We are following our traditional schedule this year, where students will have all of their Core Classes and an Encore class each day. Students in grade 5-7 will report to their Core 1 class at the start of each day. Any 8th grade student taking a World Language class will start their day at Madeira High School at 7:35 (bus riders will be on the high school routes). If you are an 8th grade student not taking a World Language class, your day begins at 8:00 at MMS.
Busing, Drop-off, & Pick-up
Again for this year for both parent drop-off and parent pick-up, the entrance into the MMS parking lot off of Miami, will be an EXIT ONLY. When arriving for drop-off and pick-up, cars should enter into the MMS parking lot from Marvin Ave. A couple of reminders:
- Students should not enter or exit a car until it has reached the semi-circle area by the building.
- In order to keep a standing carline to a minimum timeframe, we ask that cars not arrive any earlier than 2:45pm for end of the day pick-up. Students are not released until 3:00.
- When waiting in the car line, please do not block the driveways of our community residents.
- Cars arriving for pick-up will need to stay in the pick-up line. Do not park in staff or visitor parking and wait for your student.
- Always be present and aware around your vehicle, keeping free of distractions such as cell phones.
The above reminders are important to keep our students safe. If you choose to drive your student to school or pick-up, please be patient. It will take some time to properly go through the drop-off and pick-up line. We will do our best to assist outside for a smooth process.
IMPORTANT: 7th GRADERS
- A booster dose of the Tdap (adult vaccine for Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)
- One (1) dose of MCV4 meningococcal (serogroup A,C,W, and Y) vaccine (for Meningitis)
Verification is due by September 7, 2021.
Lunch Accounts
The USDA has extended free school lunch for all students for the 2021-22 school year. At MMS we do have some extra items that can be purchased that are not covered in this program. You can money to your student's account by following the steps below (please note this is NOT the same account to pay school fees).
To set-up/access your PaySchools account:
Go to PaySchools Central.
Click Register/Login.
Complete the information on the next few pages.
NOTE: When you get to the "District" questions - scroll down and choose Milford EVSV.
Continue to log in and complete.
Update Your Student's Information
As we do each year, please take a few minutes to verify and update your student's important emergency contact and health information. Completing this online process has helped us to reduce the many emergency medical forms our parents use to receive at the beginning of the school year. Thanks in advance for your time in getting this completed.
Please follow these simple steps:
1. Use this secure link to access and review your student's registration information: https://cas.madeiracityschools.org/cas_MadeiraCityOH/login
2. For each returning student, you will need to use the following username and password to verify their information:
Username: Student ID Number
Password: Student Birthdate (MM/DD/YYYY)
3. Follow the prompts to complete verification of your student's information
School Fees
Each year it is necessary to have student fees to pay for the consumable materials used by your child during the school year. These materials are workbooks, paperback novels, or online resources that the students use or art supplies they use for their projects, which need to be re-ordered for the following year.
It is highly recommended that every student purchase the optional chromebook insurance, which is $25 per year. When accessing EZPay you will need to do the "add-on" to add the insurance. The deadline for purchasing chromebook insurance is September 30, 2021. Total fees with this option selected will be $82 for each student.
If you plan to pay by check, please make the check payable to Madeira Middle School, and include your child’s name. You can also pay the fee using a VISA, MasterCard, or Discover by going to the district website www.madeiracityschools.org click on Quicklinks then on Student Fees and follow the prompts.
If you are unable to pay the fees right away, please contact the office at
513-561-5555 to make arrangements for fee payment.
