The Sandshore Scoop
Week Ending October 16, 2020
A Message from Ms. Curry
Hi Sandshore Families,
The SHSP needs your help with Box Tops, fundraisers, and yearbook pictures!
Sandshore is continuing to collect Box Tops so please don’t throw them out! Hybrid students can bring them to school and we will be setting up a collection box for our virtual families. You can even scan Box Tops using your phone.
The SHSP is also in need of parent volunteers to help run some upcoming virtual fundraiser events including the RH Farm winter fundraiser in December and the Spring fundraiser. Fundraisers require minimal work this year as they are all virtual. Please reach out to any of the executive board members for more information.
In addition, please help us make the 2020-2021 yearbook the best that it can be by uploading your pictures here.
Don’t forget - the Spirit Wear Sale ends on November 1st. Show your MO pride with great new items including Chromebook cases and face masks.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Curry

Halloween Updates
All elementary schools will be celebrating Halloween on Friday, October 30th. Students are encouraged to wear costumes, whether in-person or virtually. Teachers will plan Halloween-related activities including songs, crafts, spooky stories, Halloween books/poems for their classrooms.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no food or parades will be allowed this year. Students who would like to dress up need to wear their costumes to school. Please help students pick an outfit they can comfortably wear all day and leave weapons and costume masks at home. Students must still wear a CDC approved face mask with their costume. There will not be a school parade and parents are not allowed to attend the class celebrations.
Classroom teachers will communicate with parents on ways that the students at home can present and share their costumes with the rest of the class.

2020-2021 Room Parent Sign up
- The SHSP is looking for a few additional room parent volunteers for the 2020/2021 school year. While there are few requirements of room parents this year, we need someone to run point on classroom communication with parents when and if necessary. Parents who can volunteer to help, sign up here: http://ow.ly/XLPd50Bs0xI
FREE FIELD TRIPS FOR ALL!
- The SHSP has big news. Remember when field trips were a thing? Well they're back! (Sort of.) How would you like to go on a live leopard safari in Sri Lanka, or tour the waterways of Venice? All from home. Airbnb has real-time field trips for kids 6-14 years old, and The SHSP was one of the parent/teacher organizations chosen by Airbnb to receive enough free field trips for every Sandshore student and staffer to have one. Go to www.theshsp.com/airbnbfieldtrips to get yours. Note: Book your field trip by 10/30 which is when the coupons expire.
