Six Picks for Formative Assessment
Just a few fun ideas to 'take the pulse' of your class!
Today's Meet
One of the easiest ways to use TodaysMeet is a whole class discussion or review session. After opening a room, the teacher puts out a question or prompt and the students begin interacting. During the discussion the teacher can guide and facilitate the discussion by asking more questions and providing comments directly to students inside the TodaysMeet room
Plickers
Plickers is a powerfully simple tool that lets teachers collect real-time formative assessment data without the need for student devices. Print out free cards with bar codes on them, give them to your students, and scan their answers with your own cell phone. The students don't need any tech at all!
Mentimeter
Mentimeter is a quick and easy way to have students vote with their cell phones! It's free and it is really SUPER simple to use! (It's pretty fun, too!)
Socrative
See how to use formative assessment data gathered over time to identify student levels of understanding, target students for intervention, and personalize learning. Your classroom will never be the same!
Classkick
Classkick is a fantastic interactive screensharing tool that puts great focus on formative assessment and the value of feedback! This is primarily an iPad tool, with certain features that can be used on any device.
Formative
Formative is similar to Classkick in that it is an interactive, live-viewing tool! Their site says "intervene in the moments that matter most" and "get live results". That pretty much sums up the awesomeness of Formative. You're going to love using this site with your students.
