Martin de leon

Martin De Leon was married to Patrica De Leon in Sota La Marina. The year was 1809 and the Lipan Commache Indians were constntly attacking the settlers, making it dangerous for the De Leon. On one of his ventures from the Nuceus river to New Orleans. He discovered a location near the Gualape lavaca river. On April, 18, 1824, Don martin De Leon pentioned to the government at San Antonio to establish 41 families from Tamaplies pas at a place which he named Nuestra Senora De Gualapue De Jesus. on his return trips from New Orleans Martin would return with supplies for his family,friends hired to help.
