Take the VCS Twitter Challenge
Using #VCSPLN to Grow Through the Power of Personalized PD!
Take the 2 Week Twitter Challenge and become a Connected Educator!
Challenge #1-Challenge Accepted!
Tweet the world and tell them you're taking the VCS Twitter Challenge! Make sure you add the #VCSPLN hashtag to keep us in the loop.
For example, "I'm taking the VCS Twitter Challenge! Join me! #VCSPLN"
Challenge #2 - Get Your 'Selfie' Out There!
It Takes Me At Least 10! :)
You Can Do It!
"USIE"
Challenge #3 - Show Us Your School Spirit!
Challenge #4 - Show Us Your Classroom!
Tweet a snapshot or description of quality work completed in your classroom today! Use the hashtag #VCSPLN.
Challenge #5- Show Us Your Favorites!
Reply to at least 2 tweets and show them some love! Be sure to use #VCSPLN.
@joykirr retweeted this genius photo below last week and I can't wait to try it to entice my reluctant readers!
Challenge #6 - Prepare to be Chatted
Check out the Twitter Education Chat Calendar below. Find one (or more) that you think sound interesting and relevant for you. There are chats for every grade elementary grade level, administrators, librarians, SpEd teachers, special area teachers...the list goes on and on!
Here's the challenge: Commit to a chat in the next 6 days! Remember, lurking is okay. Tweet out which chat you'll be joining so we can check it out, too! In your tweet, include the chat hashtag as well as #VCSPLN and your school hashtag while you're at it!
Here's an example: "I'm joining #TMchat Sunday at 10pm EST! #VCSPLN
FYI: The Florida Educators Chat (FLEdchat) happens Wednesday nights at 8pm and it's always a good time. Feel free to join other state chats, too! I enjoy the Kentucky Ed Chat (#kyedchat) and many others.
Remember to follow some people in your chat so you can grow your PLN!
Challenge #7- Check Out the Chats!
Read some of the chats that others are planning to attend this week. After their chat, ask them how it was later that evening or the day after (in a tweet, of course!).
For example, if on Friday, @techmom76 tweets, "I'm looking forward to the New Teachers 2 Twitter (#nT2t) chat on Saturday. #VCSPLN #cgeeagles"
Then on Saturday you might tweet, "@techmom76 How was your #nT2t chat this morning? #VCSPLN"
Watch for a notification from @techmom76 with her reply to your question!
Challenge #8- Show Off Your Colleagues!
Challenge #9- Tweet From a Meeting!
Challenge #10 - Share Your Favorite Lesson!
In 140 characters of less, share your favorite lesson to teach and tell us why! If you have a picture (you know it's worth 1,000 words!), share! Be advised that the pic will use up some of the 140 characters. Don't forget to use the hashtag #VCSPLN and read other teacher's tweets. Who do you want to hear more from? Don't forget to follow them!
Challenge #11 - #FF (Follow Friday)
By this point in the challenge, I'm sure your PLN has grown thanks to chats, retweets, mentions, and all the interactions you've had with other amazing educators!
#FF means "Friday Follow" and it's a chance for you to share a few who you think others should follow. Today, #FF a few people and share about who we should be following! Include the hashtag #VCSPLN, too.
Challenge #12 - Tell Someone About Twitter!
Challenge #13 - Follow Up with your Faves!
Tweet some thoughts or ideas from the chat you attended from the challenge above.
If could be something you learned, a resource that was shared, or any thought about the chat itself! Tag it with the chat's hashtag and also use the hashtag #VCSPLN.
Here's an example:
Thanks, @conniehamilton, for sharing your Thinking Maps. They really make the #TMchat easy to understand. #VCSPLN
