Construction Notice: Playground Fencing Being Installed Starting Tuesday, April 4th
We are excited that the construction of fencing for our playground area is set to begin on Tuesday, April 4th. We are very excited for this enhancement to our campus that will provide added safety for our learners as the community continues to grow around us.
We wanted to make you aware of a few things that will be impacted once construction begins and for the duration of the construction project. The anticipated total time for these impacts will be Tuesday, April 4th - Friday, April 7th. Should there be any changes to this window we will keep you updated.
During this time, the playground will not be accessible during school for recess and after school hours for the community. This is due to safety concerns for students. Our staff will work creatively to still use other outside areas so that children have opportunities to get out and play during recess times.
During drop off and pick up, we would respectfully ask that there will be no parking along on the sides adjacent to the playground (or sidewalk along all sides of the playground). We highly recommend you use our full service car line, and/or park down Paisley to allow for smooth traffic flow along Stonefield. The crosswalk pick up for walkers will still take place at the corner of Stonefield and Paisley.
We will be making a call out to all parents as well with this important information. Please feel free to share this as well. As always we welcome your celebrations, questions and/or concerns anytime. Thank you in advance for your flexibility and cooperation. Take care and enjoy your weekend!
Wednesday, April 12th: PSA Career Day
Dear Industry Representatives,
Career Day is rapidly approaching and we need YOUR experiences! We are looking for a variety of people interested in spending time talking to our students about their career.
Many of our students are unaware of the career opportunities available to them and this is a fantastic way to provide them with first hand knowledge of potential career pathways.
This is also a great way for you to get involved at PSA and make an impact on the students’ future.
If you are not interested but know someone who is, please give them (or us) the necessary contact information. Participants may click here or go to https://goo.gl/forms/vpPg4BUMkxBI5kEA2 to register.
The 2017 PSA Career Day is April 12th at 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m..
Thank you in advance for your involvement!

Prestwick Elementary VEX Ties for First Place at PSA Hosted VEX IQ Scrimmage Competition
On March 25th, PSA hosted a VEX IQ Scrimmage Competition. Around thirteen teams from around the metroplex came together to compete at Prestwick. Teams compete by working together for points as well as as a pair to get points.
A big thank you to all who helped make Saturday happen! Our students at the end tied for first with another team! This was a big celebration for everyone!
Why I like VEX Robotics?
Written by Rashmika Reddy-Mazzitello, PSA 4th Grade Student
STEM Academy VEX Robotics is a program which helps teach students engineering skills through building robots. In The VEX Robotics program, I learnt engineering skills such as building a working robot from smaller component parts. As a team member I learned to strengthen my team cooperation skill. Being in VEX Robotics taught me that a project is more easily and quickly done when working in a team than when working alone (there is no ¨I¨ in Team). I enjoyed being on The VEX Robotics team because it helped teach me about engineering, cooperation within a team, and at times being patient and persistent to get the job done. It just made learning and engineering simple and more fun.

Greetings Lobos! PSA is excited to introduce our English as a Second Language (ESL) Facilitator, Mrs. Marnie Richardson. Mrs. Richardson has 16 years of public education experience and is certified in various educational areas such as ESL K-12, Special Education K-12, and Principal Certification K-12. Mrs. Richardson received her Bachelor’s degree of Science in Business Administration and Master’s degree of Education in Cross Cultural Education.
As ESL coordinator, Mrs. Richardson has many duties and responsibilities that include: identifying LEP students at all grade levels, collaborating with other content teachers and special education teachers to ensure ELL student's language and instructional needs are being met, monitoring ELL’s academic and linguistic progress that is reflected in the formative and summative evaluations to ensure students meet desired educational goals, TELPAS administration, and planning, preparing, and facilitating the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) meetings.
There are numerous reasons why Mrs. Richardson’s enjoys being ELL Facilitator, but the most exciting part for Mrs. Richardson is getting to see her students’ progress with the English language through the years, “I want my students to know the progress they are making and be inspired to continue on their journey of becoming lifelong learners.”
In Mrs. Richardson’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, walking, listening to music, and exploring new exciting places. PSA is proud to have Mrs. Richardson’s commitment to serving the needs of our ELL families and students!
