Second Step - Friendship Skills
Our schoolwide theme is Friendship Skills
Students will focus on fair ways to play, making amends, taking responsibility, being respectful, accepting differences, and having empathy.
*We can resolve friendship conflicts better when we can calm down.
*We can choose to have fun with others rather than only getting our own way.
*Getting along with others helps us to be better learners at school and more successful at home and later in life.

Technology Corner
Tech Tip - Digital Footprint
This month's tech tip is about the "Footprint" you and your child are creating for them with every shared photo, post, and social media message. This digital trail is probably well under way and is either knowingly or unknowingly painting a picture of your child that future employers, college recruiters, and perhaps even future loan officers will use to make decisions about your child. Take time to talk to your child about the online image that they are creating, or that is being created for them. A great first step is to be a role model for your child, before posting something on social media about them, ask their permission to make sure they are OK with it, this will help them take ownership of their digital identity. Another tip is to use a positive role model or celebrity as an example that shares the same values as your family, ask your child what would insert role model post in response to this. One final tip, it is NEVER too early to periodically GOOGLE yourself and your child, take some time to see what is out there about your child so that they have a better understanding of how to shape their digital image.
