Appendicitis
Digestive Malfunction
Symptoms
This is Jessica. Jessica feels really nauseous a lot lately, vomiting, has a fever with chills, and has a very harsh, sharp pain in her mid abdomen to the right lower abdomen.
Diagnosis
Jessica's doctor wasn't sure about what she had due to the widespread symptoms until she told him about her abdominal pain. After hearing this he did an abdominal exam to test for inflammation over the appendix, blood tests to test for infection, urine tests to rule out UTI's, and a CT to look for internal inflammation. All concluded that Jessica had appendicitis.
Effect
Since the appendix doesn't really affect the digestive system it doesn't really affect digestion. To fix appendicitis a person will usually have the appendix removed in an appendectomy, which after it heals doesn't change anything in digestion.
