It's Flu Season!
Tips for Avoiding the Flu & What To Do If You Get Sick
How to Stay Healthy in the Residence Halls:
- Wash your hands often
- Avoid touching your face, especially your mouth, nose, and eyes
- Drink plenty of water
- Avoid contact with people who have been sick
- Use disinfectant wipes in your room, bathroom, and common areas in addition to regular cleaning by Housekeeping
Symptoms of the Flu:
- Fever
- Aches
- Chills
- Headache
- Chest discomfort
- Dry, unproductive cough
If the symptoms come on quickly, within three to six hours, it might be the flu and not just a cold.
If You Think You Have the Flu...
Please contact Nurse Deb Berg (DBerg@svc.edu) and visit Health Services in Hunter Hall.
If Health Services is not open, Campus Safety can bring you to urgent care or the emergency room for medical attention.
If possible, please go home until you have had no symptoms for 24 hours. If you're not able to go home, self-isolate in your room as much as possible.
Residence Life may be able to provide temporary housing for students if their roommate is sick with a case of the flu confirmed by a medical professional.
