Frog Pond School Newsletter 09/2021
Volume 21-22 Issue 1
Tom Denning, Principal
Hello Frog Pond Family!
We are off to a great start this school year!
September has come and gone quickly, and we are excited to be operating full time, five days a week, with all of our students and staff. It was a pleasure to see all of the parents, in-person, for Back to School Night!
October is always an exciting month here at Frog Pond. There are several initiatives we will be celebrating this month! They are the National Week of Respect, Fire Prevention Week, and Red Ribbon Week. In addition, school picture day will be October 12th, and fall parties will be held on October 26th (6th grade), 27th (5th Grade), 28th (4th grade), and 29th (3rd grade). Unfortunately we will not be having parents as guests during the parties. Students are allowed to bring their costumes to school for their class parties, but we will not be having a parade at Frog Pond Elementary School. The Scholastic Book Fair will be held from 10/1-10/8, with a Family Night on 10/6 from 5-7pm.
Thank you to all of the parents, students and staff for making this a great start to the 2021-22 school year!
Mr. Denning

Positive Behavior In School
This year at FPE we are putting an extra focus on Bus and Lunch/Recess behaviors. Behavior expectations were reviewed with all students during grade-level assemblies and in their classrooms. Bus Drivers and Cafeteria/Playground Aides are now giving out "Pond Pass" tickets to the students when they are caught following our behavior expectations. Students then put their tickets in their grade level containers in the MPR. Sixteen tickets per day are drawn from the containers and student names are announced during Morning Announcements each day. Recognized students get a group photo taken and those are hung in the hallway by the cafeteria. We will also be doing some special recognition/rewards on occasion to acknowledge our students who are following the behavior expectations (WaWa free coupon items, pizza parties, cupcake celebrations, Friday dance parties, lunch with Mr. Denning, etc.)!
We would like to thank WaWa, 84 Lumber, and Acme for providing donations so far this year! We look forward to coordinating future celebrations with other businesses in our community! If you own or know of a business that would like to donate items, gift cards, or a monetary donation to support our Positive Behavior in Schools initiative, please contact Mrs. Truzzolino at jtruzzolino@lehsd.org. Thank you!

Art News
It’s that time of year again, time for the annual MyCard Design Project Art Fundraiser. Keep your eye open for the envelope coming home. The return date for ordering cards is Friday October 8th.
ABOUT THE MyCard DESIGN PROJECT
The MyCard Design project is a fundraiser run in FPE Art each year.
Students create a design or illustration that adults at home can choose to order on cards if they like. Each card has the student’s design on the front and their name and date on the back.
Ordering cards is completely optional, but students must complete a design for a grade.
When ordered, cards come in a neat box containing ten cards with envelopes. These can be given as gifts or used at any time throughout the year. Many students design winter holiday cards so that the ordered cards can be used to send holiday greetings this winter.
Any money raised is used to purchase art supplies and supplies for our Full STEAM Ahead Arts and Sciences Celebration at the end of the year.
