Release of Information Forms
If you need Behavior Rating Scales completed or want the school to communicate with an outside entity, private tutor, doctor, etc., you will need to complete a Release of Information form for this school year. You can request this form through the counseling office. When asking teachers to complete Behavior Rating Scales, you will need to give one week’s notice to allow teachers ample time to complete the forms. These forms will be faxed directly to the doctor’s office and you will be notified once this is completed.
Credit By Exam
Students in grades K-8 will have four opportunities during the school year to use “credit-by-exam” to accelerate to another grade level or accelerate in math only. Students are permitted to have one opportunity to test for each grade level or math course considered.
To apply to take the test to skip kindergarten, a student must be 5 by September 1, and registered with a CFISD school. To apply to take the test to skip grade 1, a student must be 6 by September 1, and enrolled in a CFISD school.
Students who earn scores of 80% or better on each component of the credit-by-exam for grade level acceleration will qualify to advance one grade. Students who earn a score of 80% or better on the math credit-by-exam assessment will qualify to advance one grade level in math. Only one grade level may be “skipped” each year. No retests will be given. More information is on the CFISD website in the Horizon section.
If you are interested in getting more information about credit-by-exam, please contact your school counselor.

From the Nurse
Medication pick up day will be on May 25th until 2 p.m. Any medication not picked up that day from the clinic will be disposed of.
Attention PK, K-2 Parents: Please ensure your child has a change of clothes in their backpack appropriate for the warm months ahead.
For a child to return to school after being sick, he/she must be fever free for at least 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication.
Please remember that students are not permitted to carry any kind of medication in their pockets or backpacks, not even cough drops. All medication needs to be brought to the clinic by a parent so that proper forms can be filled out.
Student Safety
Student safety is a top priority at Farney Elementary. If you plan to visit our school, please have your picture ID available every time you are here. When you ring the doorbell, front desk personnel will ask the nature of your visit. Please respond in the intercom. Once access is granted, please enter the security vestibule. Visitors are encouraged to wear a mask.
Lunch Visitors
K-5 parents and guardians are invited to visit during lunch starting September 6th. Any other visitors (grandparents, siblings, friends, etc.), must be accompanied by the parent or guardian or have a note giving them permission to eat with the child for each visit. In accordance with CFISD policy, school-age children are not permitted to visit the campus at any time. Due to food and nutrition guidelines, you may bring lunch for your child only. For your convenience, there are tables reserved for you to enjoy lunch with your child. Teachers will call the “Farney Five” at the end of lunch to signal when it is time for your child to say a quick goodbye and rejoin his/her class.
