To the Point
Prairie Point Staff Newsletter
Issue 8: Tuesday, September 9, 2014
I came to one of my favorite quotes within the book, and noted that it seemed very appropriate in looking ahead to this school year:
#10: Be the Filter
"We are very fortunate to work in education. Sometimes we just forget how blessed we are. By consistently filtering out the negatives that don't matter and sharing a positive attitude we can create a much more successful setting. Consciously or unconsciously, we decide the tone of our classrooms and of our school" (p.63).
This quote reminded me that I'm so fortunate to work in a place that focuses on the positive, and knows that everything we do speaks to who we are. Sure, we get frustrated, overwhelmed, and tired. Who doesn't and isn't? But we don't let it define us. Instead, whatever it is, we acknowledge it, maybe we vent about it, we do something about it, and then we move on. Everyday that I've worked at Prairie Point I've known that the education and care of our students is the number one priority of all who work here and we don't let little distractions get in the way. It's one more small thing that creates the positive and professional tone of our classrooms and school.
Nice bike, Prairie Point staff!
