RMS Parent Newsletter and Updates 2/7/2021

Dear RMS Families,

Our district will reopen for in-person learning on Monday, February 8. Families that have been directly contacted about a quarantine involving their students should not return to school until their designated date.

Parents are reminded that students should be kept home if they are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 and contact the school and district nurse.

Our district administrative team, teachers, and nurses have reviewed practices and protocols for our return and an emphasis on complying with mask mandates, spacing, and other safety aspects of our school day can be expected.

Throughout these last few challenging months, we have been focused on providing the highest level of education and protecting the safety of our students, staff, and community. Everyone has been asked to do a lot to help us meet this shared goal. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding.

We are excited to return back to a regular schedule for our remote and in-person students on Monday, February 8th.

Cold Weather Ahead

With the colder weather forecast for next week, a reminder to our families that the doors to the building open 10 minutes before the school day begins. That means RHS and RMS are not allowed into the building until 7:10 am and RES students cannot enter until 8:00 am. Please take this into consideration when dropping students off during morning arrival.

New District's Strategic Plan

Mr. Enix presented the final draft of the district’s Strategic Plan, which was the result of input from the community, staff, parents, and students during a process that began in October. The 35-member Steering Committee developed draft statements and gathered input in a community survey with more than 200 responses.

A 40-member group of community and district members crafted the Action Plan. The Strategic Plan focuses on four areas: Student Learning, Communication, Culture, and Fiscal Responsibility. The Board is expected to vote on approval of the Strategic Plan at the next meeting Wednesday, February 17.

Thank you to the many people who participated in this process by serving on a committee or providing survey input.

Traffic Flow for Arrival

We have updated some of our arrival procedures to help with traffic flow in the morning and provide additional exit options for families.

Option 1: Enter the campus from Bolser Drive and drop off your middle/high school students in the Blue Lot. You can then exit either from the main entrance onto Columbia or exit back onto Bolser Drive (Bolser is a right turn exit only).

Option 2: Enter the campus at the stoplight from Columbia and drop off your middle/high school students at the front entrance of the building. You can then exit either from the stoplight entrance onto Columbia or exit onto Bolser Drive (Bolser is a right turn exit only).

Option 3: Enter the campus from the Columbia entrance closest to Ronald Reagan and you can use the elementary loop to circle behind the building and drop off at the middle school entrance. You will have to exit onto Bolser Drive (Bolser is a right turn exit only).

Family Pick-up

Any middle school student that needs to pick-up their younger sibling will wait in the cafeteria from 2:10-2:25. Students will be supervised and then they will be dismissed to meet their siblings.

Students in grades 3-5 will exit the front of the building and meet their middle school sibling in the large blue parking lot across from the middle school entrance. Students should develop a plan on where to meet each other each day.

Students in grades k-2 will be released from the elementary school and middle school students will walk to the back of the building to pick up their younger sibling.

Quarantine Students

In the event that a student has to be quarantined for 10 days, please contact our office and we will make arrangements for them to join their classes virtually so they can continue attending school.
